Royall Blanks Brookwood to Advance in Baseball Post Season
The Royall Panther baseball team used a strong pitching effort and timely hitting to defeat Brookwood in a WIAA Division 4 Regional Semi-Final, winning 6-0. Trey Wildes pitched the first 5 inning for the Panthers giving up no runs while scattering 5hits walking 4 and striking out 4 to pick up the victory. Cole Eberhardt went 2×2 with an RBI while Ben Crneckiy had a 2 run double in the 6th inning to give the Panthers some much needed breathing room. Owen Wang went 4×4 for Brookwood. Royall improves to 16-5 with the victory and advances to the Regional Championship game.
Hillsboro Softball Team Downs Ithaca to Advance to Sectional Final
The Hillsboro Tigers softball team advanced to the WIAA D5 Sectional Championship game with a 6-1 victory over Ithaca Tuesday night. The victory avenged an earlier 9-2 loss during the season to Ithaca. Kianna Liska went 4×4 with an RBI in the victory and Jaelyn Bloor picked up the victory inside the circle pitching a complete game giving up just 1run on 5hits walking none and striking out 5. Hillsboro improves to 19-3 on their season and will take on the Wisconsin Rapids Assumption Royals in the Sectional Final Thursday in New Lisbon.

Smith and Barker Advance to State Meet for New Lisbon
The New Lisbon Track and Field Team competed Thursday night at the WIAA Sectional meet in Bangor alongside 35 other teams who brought athletes fighting for a spot to participate in the State Track and Field next weekend at UW La Crosse.
Blake Smith rose to the occasion and with a School Record throw of 51’ 4” took the Sectional Championship and punched his ticket to State.
Jameson Barker earned his spot at Sectionals with a school record 41.61 time in the 300 meter hundred hurdles and continued his momentum by finishing 3rd at Sectional and also earning a trip to State.
This is the 7th consecutive year excluding the covid year that New Lisbon has had athletes representing New Lisbon at the WIAA State Track and Field Meet.
Hillsboro Softball Wins 3rd Straight Regional Championship
The Hillsboro Tigers softball team won their 3rd straight regional champions Thursday evening with an 8-1 thumping over Brookwood. Hillsboro used a big 5 run 2nd inning to help secure the victory. The two Tiger seniors had big games for Hillsboro. Peyton Sullivan had a Kirk Gibson like performance going 3×3 with a key RBI in the 2nd inning for Hillsboro. Jaelyn Bloor went 1×3 with an RBI at the plate but picked up the victory in the circle going 7 strong innings giving up just 1 run while scattering 5 hits and striking out a pair of batters against just 1 walk. Hillsboro will travel to Seneca on Tuesday for a sectional semi-final matchup. Hillsboro improves to 18-3 on their season. Brookwood got a homerun from Kymber Kaiser in the loss. Brookwood finishes their season with a record of 13-11.

Wonewoc-Center Softball Season Ends vs Seneca
The Wonewoc-Center Wolves softball season came to an end Wednesday evening falling to Seneca 7-3 in a WIAA D5 Regional Semi-Final. Wonewoc-Center had a 1-0 lead going into the 6th inning but Seneca erupted for 7 runs over the final two frames to garner the victory. Kelsey Justman went 2×4 while Bryn Ertel went 1×2 with an RBI for Wonewoc-Center in the loss. Seneca was led by Raya Wallin who went 3×4 with 3RBI’s. Wonewoc-Center finishes their season with a 9-9 record. Seneca improves to 10-11 and moves on to take on Ithaca in a Regional Championship game.
