Royall Softball Season Ends in Ithaca
A highly successful Royall Panther softball season came to an end Tuesday evening falling to Ithaca/Weston 8-5 in a D5 WIAA Sectional Semi-Final game. Royall went up 1-0 in the first inning thanks to some Bulldog miscues but Ithaca/Weston would score the next 8 runs of the game off the back of homeruns by Valerie Bauer and Jacey Maxwell. Royall attempted a rally in the final frame bringing the tying run to the plate but that batter would strike out to end the game and season for Royall. Brooklyn McKittrick had a double in the loss for Royall. The Panthers finish their season with a 20-7 record winning both a Conference championship and Regional championship.
Royall Softball Claims 1st Regional Title in 21 Years
The Royall Panthers secured their 1st regional championship in 21 years with an 11-0 rout of De Soto Thursday night. Aunika Wopat got things started with a 2run double in the opening inning to put the Panthers on top and they would only surge from there. Royall put up an 8 spot in the 3rd inning fueled by a 2 run double by Kenady Olson and a 2 run single by Brooklyn Mckittrick. Brynn Olson tossed a 5 inning 3hitter to pick up another victory inside the circle for Royall. Royall moves on to play Ithaca/Weston in Ithaca Tuesday evening in a D5 Sectional Semi-Final round matchup.
Royall Makes Quick Work of Wolves to Move on in Softball Postseason
The Royall Panther Softball team earned their way to a regional championship game making quick work of Wonewoc-Center 15-0 in 3 innings Tuesday evening. The Panthers took advantage of wild pitching and Wonewoc-Center errors in the first couple innings going up 13-0. Bria Gruen walked off the game with a 2 run triple in the third inning to drive in the mercy rule winning runs in the bottom of the third inning. Gruen drove in 4 runs total in the game and Brynn Olson went 2×2 with a pair of RBI’s and was the winning pitcher inside the circle for Royall. Bryn Burns, Eastyn Fry, and Leah Brunkin all had hits for the Wolves in the loss. Royall improves to 19-6 and will host De Soto Thursday evening in a Division 5 Regional Championship game.
Rockets Blast Off in 3rd Inning to Move on in Softball Postseason
The New Lisbon Rocket Softball Team moved on in the post season by routing Tri-County 17-4 Thursday night in a WIAA D5 Regional Quarter-Final matchup. New Lisbon trailed 3-2 heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning but exploded for 9 runs to take complete control of the game. The Rockets would add 6 more runs in the 4th to run away with the victory. Olivia Bunker led the charge for New Lisbon going 3×4 with a double and 4RBI’s. Amelia Dvorak, Bristol Dummer, and Karey Edgerton all had multiple hits in the game as well. Arria Knee was the victorious pitcher in the circle for New Lisbon. The Rockets move on to play at Marshfield Columbus Catholic Tuesday at 5pm in a regional semi-final matchup.
Hillsboro Baseball Rallies Past Royall
The Hillsboro Tigers spoiled the Royall Panthers Joe Vitcenda Field dedication night with a 7-6 victory over Royall Monday night. Hillsboro trailed 4-1 after 4 innings but scored 5 times in the top of the 5th to garner a lead they would not relinquish. David Johnson picked up the win on the mound giving up 4runs over 5 innings of work. Johnson also went 2×4 with 3 RBI’s at the plate. Abe Scheder picked up the save for Hillsboro. Matthew Huffman went 2×4 with a double and an RBI for the Tigers. Jett Bender had a pair of hits and 2RBI’s for Royall while Brock Preuss went 2×2 with 2RBI’s in the Panthers loss.
Bangor Baseball Defeats Royall to Claim Share of SBC Championship
The Bangor Cardinals baseball team clinched at least a share of the Scenic Bluffs Championship with a 4-3 victory over Royall Thursday night. Bangor scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning two of them on a throwing error the 3rd base. Bangor added a needed run in the 3rd inning on an RBI ground out by Grant Anderson to put them up 4-0. Royall mounted a 6th inning comeback getting an RBI single from Braxton Board and a 2run double by Brock Preuss to pull withing 4-3. Royall had the tying run and go ahead runners on with two outs but Bryce Anderson came in for Bangor and got a line drive out at first base to end a further threat. Anderson retired the side in the 7th to pick up the save and make a winner out of starting pitcher Dayne Langrehr. Royall must beat Hillsboro on Monday and hope Bangor loses to Cashton to share the conference championship with Bangor.

Hillsboro Baseball Topples Mauston
The Hillsboro Tigers slugged out 16 run in a 16-6 victory over Mauston in a non-conference baseball game Monday night. Hillsboro trailed early 6-3 but scored 13 unanswered to end the game. Jacob Cairns scored 5 runs and drove in a pair for the Tigers going 3×4 at the plate. Matthew Huffman went 2×3 with 4RBIs and David Johnson went 2×3 with a pair of runs driven in. Johnson also picked up the win on the mound working 2 scoreless innings. Isaac Steinke went 2×3 with a pair of doubles for Mauston.
New Lisbon Softball Sweeps Home Triangular
The New Lisbon Softball team went 2-0 at their home triangular Saturday defeating Mauston 18-8 and Burlington Catholic Central 9-8. Amelia Dvorak had 3 hits and a pair of RBI’s in the victory over Mauston while Karey Edgerton went 2×3 with a pair of RBI’s. Arria Knee picked up the win inside the circle for the Rockets. New Lisbon jumped out to a 9-3 lead in game 2 over Catholic Central and held on for a 9-8 victory led by strong defense and pitching down the stretch. Karey Edgerton went 3×4 in the victory for New Lisbon while Joss Clark Keira Wilkinson and Amelia Dvorak all went 2×4 at the plate. Sasha Szekely picked up the win for New Lisbon in the circle while Arria Knee picked up the save striking out the final batter of the game. Mauston fell 25-1 to Burlington Catholic Central at the triangular. Khloi Miles had a pair of doubles in the two games for Mauston.
