Brickl, Virginia (Ginny Joy) age 82 of New Lisbon

On January 27, 2026, in the comfort of her daughters, a flock of Angels carried Virginia (Ginny Joy) Brickl on a path lined with roses where she roller skated into a symphony of drums, tambourines and a choir of Angels in celebration to meet Jesus.

Ginny was born to Roger and Joyce Cady on May 10, 1943, in Battle Creek, Michigan. The oldest of four siblings, Ginny spent her youth surrounded by the music and love of her parents and her grandparents Arthur and Grace Cady. She spent her time watching over her sisters, singing in the church choir, and getting into mischief with her best friends Candy and Penny.  She graduated from Webb High School where she starred on the varsity basketball team with her stylish “patented” layups, was always up for a good debate (or just plain talking, of course), and looked forward to Friday nights of skating. It was on the ice rink, after a dramatic fall, that she met her future husband, John Brickl, who carried her to safety thus leaving her dream of marrying Burt Reynolds on the ice. She wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Ginny was everybody’s cheerleader and solace. Her steadfast ability to love everyone, and forgive, was forged in the red lines of Jesus. While the daisy was her favorite flower, Ginny lived her life like a Pansy, a flower of beauty, vibrancy, and diverse rich colors and patterns that always seem to fit the perfect moment; a flower acclaimed for thoughtfulness reflection, and the ability to ease the heart from “sorrow, heartbreak, and melancholy” while never fading in the cold and troubling weather. It was this “heartsease” she invested all her might into her family. While Ginny had the curiosity and talents to be a renaissance woman, she used her oversized heart to dedicate her soft power and strength to her family, with ease, by being the loving mother the world dreams about. Familial love, a little inspiration from John Denver, Jesus, and her love for everyone was Ginny’s compass.

Ginny had the best years of her life ahead of her, determined to be a grandmother who never let a day go by without her grandkids knowing she was rooting for them, when Parkinson’s tried to distract her. “Bring it on,” she would tell the disease.  Instead of experimental procedures and drugs, she decided to embrace it “like just another body part God blessed me with” with using it as part of her missional journey to make the world a better place. She inspired us, she stayed true to joy, and to the gift God gave, her putting others first. She continued to make us laugh even in her last years when the journey’s toll made it difficult for her to speak.  Those of us who spent time with Ginny knew she would do anything to be surrounded by laughter. She was infamous for her “drive through” jokes, clowning around, and shocking her children into using proper anatomical terminology when we called each other names not so proper. Unorthodox is an understatement when describing Ginny. Her infamous “reverse psychology” fooled her children into doing the right thing…and the dishes without being asked. She was always present for all of us.

Saying Ginny was a sweet person is an understatement…saying she was tough is also an understatement.  She is a LIFEFORCE that will continue to live in all of us. And whenever you feel “sunshine on your shoulder,” know it is Ginny reminding you that she is rooting for you.

Survivors include her four children, Terry Brickl, Tammy Waltemath, Bobbi (Todd) Steele, and Daniel (Kelly) Brickl, as well as honorary family member and sister Karen (Scott) Davis. She is also survived by her sisters Julie and Debbie, and her cherished grandchildren Michael, Mandy, Chad, Kristen, Kalli, Brenden, Danielle, Nickolas, Dominick, Kaleb, Kyhlie, Keith, Charlie, Ruby, and Clark and 18 great grandchildren. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents Roger and Joyce, and John, her loving husband.

The family would like to thank Crestview Nursing Home, Mile Bluff Hospital and Hospice for their generous care.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Church in Mauston, Wisconsin. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, located in Mauston, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carl W. Nelson Animal Shelter, Mauston, WI online by going to www.carlnelson.org or sending a check to PO Box 345 Mauston, WI 53948.  The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with arrangements. Stone, Deborah “Rock” Age 61 of Friendship

Deborah “Rock” Stone, 61, of Friendship

Deborah “Rock” Stone, 61, of Friendship, passed away on January 16, 2026, the same day baseball legend Bob Uecker passed — a fitting coincidence for a lifelong Brewers fan.

A proud supporter of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, Rock was known for her sharp wit, love of a cold Bud Light (always with a glass of ice on the side), and her skill at the pool table — she often joked she was the best in the county, and few were brave enough to argue. She brought laughter and warmth to all who knew her and lived life with humor, heart, and a competitive spirit. Her sparkling sense of humor, stubborn streak, and heart of gold made her unforgettable to everyone lucky enough to know her.

Rock is preceded in death by her parents Myron and Carol Stone.

Rock is survived by her brothers Charles “Chuckie” Stone and Jeffery Stone, her sister-in-law Susan Stone, and her sister Tina, along with cherished nieces and nephews, with many good friends who loved and supported her.

A celebration of life will be held at March 21st at 1:00 at Corner Bar— fitting, since Rock would never want the party to end too soon. Friends and family are encouraged to raise a glass (of ice naturally) in her honor and share a laugh, a story, or a toast to the woman who made life a little louder, funnier, and full of heart.

Heitman, Don (Donnie) Age 64

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Don (Donnie) Heitman, whose life was rooted in family, hard work, and a deep love of the land. Don passed away on December 10, 2025.

A celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 15th, 2026 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Don was born March 14, 1961, to Edward and June Heitman. A farmer at heart, he found joy in the simple, meaningful things — working the land, tending to cows, and spending long days outdoors. His tractor was more than a tool; it was a source of pride, whether it was part of his toy collection or the real thing under open skies. Farming wasn’t just what he did — it was who he was — and his strong work ethic and love for nature were passed down through generations, connecting him closely to his own father and family roots.

Don worked for Wil-Kil/Rentokil for 26 years. He took great pride in showing up every day with honesty and dedication. Over the years, his customers became familiar faces and friends. On February 28, 1981, Don married Annette Guite. They spent 45 years loving each other and their family.

As a dad and grandpa, he was present, thoughtful, and endlessly loving. He delighted in time spent with his grandchildren — sharing ice cream and donuts, taking tractor and gator rides, going on adventures, and enjoying Disney vacations. He cherished watching sports, celebrating Christmas, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. He had a special way of surprising his family with small, silly gifts that brought big smiles and laughter.

He enjoyed simple pleasures like fish fries, hamburgers, and time with his dogs — especially his beloved corgis. Known for his good sense of humor, he could always bring lightness into a room and make those around him feel at ease.

Above all, he was a loving husband and a devoted family man. His love for his family was steady, genuine, and unwavering, and it showed in everything he did.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the values he taught, the land he loved, and the countless memories shared with those closest to him.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and June Heitman; and his son, Alexander.

He is survived by his loving wife, Annette; his children: Nicolas (Jenny) Heitman, and Sara (Brandon) Lukowski; beloved grandchildren, Madeline and Henry; his sister, Jean (Rich) Kleinfeldt; and his brothers, Lloyd (Roberta) Heitman and Larry Heitman. Further survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the Life Star ambulance crew, the Quincy Fire Department, and the neighbors who stopped by for their kindness, care, and compassion during this difficult time.

Marin, Carol Ann Draudt Age 88

Carol Ann Draudt Marin was born September 10, 1937, and departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior. Carol was a devoted mother, grandma honey, and great grandma honey. Carol cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, sharing her boundless love and wisdom.

A passionate pediatric nurse, Carol dedicated her life to caring for others, embodying compassion, and empathy in all she did. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her professional life into her hobbies, where she found joy in sailing, gardening, and cultivating a vibrant indoor flower sanctuary. Her casino visits were her fun pastime. Cooking was another outlet for her creativity, as she delighted in preparing meals that brought family and friends together.

Carol had a deep appreciation for nature, retreating in her home in Mauston, Wisconsin where she found solace and inspiration. Educated in geography, history, and politics, she engaged in meaningful conversations and lived her life without prejudice, advocating fiercely for those less fortunate.

In her final days, Carol expressed her desire for us to celebrate her life with laughter, Irish storytelling, and to raise a glass in her honor. She loved sharing her love of Jesus, as well as tales that brought joy to others and reminded us of all the importance of connection and community.

Carol is survived, by her daughters Cheri, Kim (Mark), and Penny. Her sister Linnea (Gene), and brother Larry. She is grandma honey to Corty (Jessie), Cameron (Amber), Vic III (Ashley), Daniel, and great grandma honey to Caden, Chase, Cuyler, Addison, Carson, and Vic IV. She will be missed by her many friends dear to her, especially Deb

She is preceded in death by her parents Anna and Lawerence Draudt, her spouse Dino, brother Fred, her son Lance, and her son-in-law Vic Jr.

We invite you to join us in a celebration of her life, where we will share stories, laughter, and a toast to a remarkable woman who touched countless lives.

Services will be held Saturday February 14, 2026, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at North Prairie Methodist church 5000 W. 9th St. Winthrop Harbor, Il 60096 followed by a luncheon at VFW post 7448 1112 Sheridan Road Winthrop Harbor, IL 60096.
