Palamaruk, James “Bummer” Age 71 of Rural Kendall

James “Bummer” K. Palamaruk, 71 of rural Kendall peacefully passed away in his home with his family on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

 
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10 AM at the Glendale Cemetery, Spring Street, Kendall, WI 54638. A Celebration of Life gathering will follow at the Kendall Village Park from 11am until 4pm with food served at noon.

Bader, Benjamin I. Age 58 of New Lisbon

Benjamin I. Bader, known to many as Ben, age 58, of New Lisbon, WI, passed away on June 9, 2026, in Watersmeet, MI. He was the son of Floyd and Alice Bader and he was born on October 29, 1967, in Rockford, Illinois, and lived a life marked by love, service, hard work, and devotion to the people around him.

Ben grew up with a strong sense of family and responsibility, qualities that remained with him throughout his life. He graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1986, and soon after, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps in January of 1987. He served honorably for eight years, including four years on active duty. His time in the Marine Corps reflected the discipline, commitment, and quiet strength that those who knew him came to admire.

Following his military service, Ben built a life centered on hard work and dedication. He worked for the AmericInn in Mauston as the manager for the last eight years, where he was respected for his dependable nature and steady presence. He took pride in his work and truly enjoyed being busy and useful. Those who knew Ben understood that he found purpose in doing his best and in being someone others could count on.

Ben enjoyed fishing in his younger years, and he also liked watching television and spending time in familiar, comfortable routines. He appreciated the simple things in life and found joy in moments that many might overlook.

He is survived by his siblings, Tina (Larry) Moore of New Lisbon, Brenda (Jim) Anderson of Hartford, Cheryl (Carl) Leis of Wilton, Raymond Bader of Janesville, Teresa Thompson of Tomah, Heather (Paul) Brownell of Watersmeet, Michigan, and Amy Good of Mauston. He is also survived by special nieces and nephews, Emma (Dakota) Bryant of Mauston, Jassen Bryant Jr. of Mauston, many other nieces and nephews, relatives and friends and a special friend, Todd Burbey.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Alice, and by his sister, Pam Davis.

Ben will be remembered for his loving heart, his selfless spirit, and the steady way he lived his life. He touched the lives of those around him through his kindness, his work ethic, and his devotion to family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, at 11:00A.M. at the Church of the Nazarene (975 Nazarene Dr.) in Mauston, WI. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, at the church from 10:00A.M. until the time of service. The family requests that everyone wear blue in honor of Ben. Winchester, Danielle M. Age 49 of Grand Marsh

Danielle M. Winchester, age 49, of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Danielle was born on June 20, 1976, in Mauston, Wisconsin, to Clifford and Terri (Lambert) Winchester. She graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1994 and later attended Mid-State Technical College.

Danielle had a deep love for nature, music, socializing, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her cheerful spirit, warm smile, and kind heart. Her presence brought joy to those around her, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Winchester.

Danielle is survived by her mother, Terri (Tim); her sister, Michelle (Aaron); her brother, Michael (Michelle); her niece, Alexis (Pablo); her nephews, Eugene and Tristan; her great-niece, Emmy; and her beloved canine companions, Shelby and Shy-Anne. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Danielle’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the New Chester Fire Department, the EMS personnel who responded, the Adams County Sheriff’s Department, and the Adams County Medical Examiner’s Department for their care and assistance.

Zeigler, Harry T. Age 84 of Friendship

Harry T. Zeigler, age 84, of Friendship, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, Wisconsin.

 

A celebration of his life will be Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 1-4pm at his home, 1744 County Road F, Friendship, WI.

Harry was born on August 17, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois to Harry and Anne (Rocco) Zeigler.

Harry spent his career as truck driver, rising to the position of Operations Manager retiring from Pier Transportation. Harry resided in Chicago then various suburbs of Chicago. Harry then moved to Friendship, Wisconsin setting his roots and making life long friends.

Harry enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, gardening and morning coffee with his buddies.

Harry was a member of the American Legion-Red Cloud Post, serving on their honor guard

Harry was preceded in death by his: Father, Harry, Mother, Anne, his sister Michelle (Micki), and his sister Judy

Survivors include his: Daughter Leslie, Son Michael, Son in Law Andrew, Michael’s girlfriend Michelle, Grandson Brennan, Granddaughter Erica, Michelle’s daughter Brooklynn and her son Joshua.

Georgeson, Edna Doreen Age 97 of Rural Camp Douglas

Edna Doreen Georgeson, age 97 of rural Camp Douglas, went home to meet her Savior and to join her husband, Elmer, in their eternal Home on June 13, 2026.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, 10:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church, N9498 1st Ave., Camp Douglas, WI. Pastors Ronald Davidson and Ian Fennell will officiate.  Burial will be in the Camp Douglas Cemetery. 

Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah, with prayer at 5:30 PM by Pastor Ian Fennell.  Family and friends may also visit at the church on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 9:45 AM.

Hagen, Karl M. Age 87 of Detroit Lakes Minnesota & Formerly of Elroy

Karl M. Hagen age 87 of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Elroy, WI died June 7, 2026.

Funeral Services for Karl Hagen will be held on Saturday June 13, 2026; 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Kotlowski, Louis John “Louie”

Louis John Kotlowski, Jr., “Louie”, passed away May 31st, 2026.   A Celebration of Life for Louie will be held at the Mound View Golf Course in Friendship, WI on Saturday July 11th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Wehinger, Judith Arlene Age 83 of Friendship

Judith Arlene Wehinger, 83, of Friendship, WI, formerly of South Wayne, WI passed away on  June 2, 2026. She was born August 17, 1942, to Arleigh and Hazel Johnson. 

Raised in Woodford, WI and graduated from South Wayne High School (now Blackhawk  School District), and then UW-Stout with Home-Ec/English dual major. She married James  Wehinger Sr on August 10, 1963 at the East Wiota Lutheran Church.  

For about the next 20 years she ran the office for the family business in South Wayne. For a  few years after that managed a women’s clothing store in Austin, TX, until returning to  Friendship, WI where she was the office manager for a local realty office until retirement. 

She was active with many different organizations throughout the years, and especially  cherished memories of serving as an advisor for Luther League. Then a 9-month commitment to be a host for an exchange student turned into hosting 3 (all from the same  family), and a blessed relationship with their family for nearly 49 years. 

She enjoyed many activities including softball, downhill skiing, snowmobiling, dancing,  baking, travel, entertaining, and later in life playing Bridge and Suduko. Of course, being a  grandmother topped the list as it provided special moments – like teaching her  granddaughter to throw a baseball; in the living room! She admired her step-grandchildren;  always proud of their accomplishments and wanted to be fully briefed on their activities  and next adventures. 

She is survived by her son, James Jr (Phyllis); granddaughter Jordyn; step grandchildren  Justine (Anthony) Brechtel, Joshua Roatch; step great grandson Dominic Roatch; brother A. David (Mary Ann) Johnson; her exchange children Guillermo, Gerardo, and Gabriella  Oseguera (and families); nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Predeceased by her husband James Sr (2007); parents; sisters Ruth Stelter and Donna  Johnson; brothers-in-law Laverne Stelter and John Enzinger.

Elmer, Merna Jefferson Age 79 of Friendship

Merna Jefferson Elmer died May 26, 2026, at home, of heart failure. Merna was born December 2nd, 1946. The 2nd daughter of Wayne and Betty Jefferson of Friendship, WI. She lived on the family farm.

 

Merna was active in 4-H where she showed Grand Champion Holsteins and participated in Style Review. Merna graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1964 and was the salutatorian of her high school class.  Merna continued her studies at UW-Madison. She graduated from UW Madison in 1968, with a degree in Early Childhood Development. As a student at UW, Merna began working for Hoffman House restaurants and
continued working there after graduation. While working for Hoffman House, Merna was promoted to training and opening new establishments. Also, while working for Hoffman House Merna met Dan Elmer, whom she would marry July 1st, 1983. Merna and Dan together opened Mr. Elmer’s in Oshkosh, WI. Later they bought Fanny’s, a restaurant on Hwy 10 between Marshfield and Neillsville with a motel and residence. After Dan’s passing, Merna moved to the Jefferson farm at Friendship.

Merna loved dogs and always acquired hers from an animal shelter, she thought that a dog was motivated to be good after being in a shelter. She gardened and sewed many of her own clothing. Merna and Dan loved good food and drink and meeting new friends in their restaurants.

The family would like to thank our brother, Bruce, and cousin, Loren Griese and for helping Merna as her health deteriorated.

She is survived by her siblings, Mary, Marcia, Dean. Donna, Bruce, Tom, Carla, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be June 27 at 12:30 pm at the Jefferson family farm.

O’Dell Judith V. Age 80 of Mauston

Judith V. O’Dell, age 80 of Mauston, WI., passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the UW Hospital in Madison.  Judith was the daughter of Stanley F. and Josephine (Bloniarz) Uliasz and was born on March 26, 1945, in Chicago, IL.

The year 1966 brought Judith both love and change when she married the love of her life, Douglas O’Dell on August 6th in Chicago, IL. The young couple spent their first year and a half in Chicago before relocating to Sun Prairie, WI. Eventually, they settled in Mauston, where they built a life together.

Her greatest joys were feeding her family from canning to baking and making large dinners for her family. She further enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her kids, especially with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren.  Judy was a hardworking sweet woman, from working at Almet in Baraboo to Best Power in Necedah and ending her working career at D.A.T. in Necedah.

Judy’s legacy is carried on by her loving children, Lori O’Dell of Mauston and Duane (Jody Dohs) O’Dell of New Lisbon. Her spirit will also live on through her grandchildren, Jessica (Andy) Ryan of Sparta, Lacey (Skylar) Adams of Idaho, and her great-grandchildren, Carson, Jeannette, Serenity, Douglas, Laikynn and Calvin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Douglas in 2025.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mauston City Cemetery. Chaplain Fred Schumacher presiding. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13th at the Mauston American Legion (1055 E. State St.) from 11:30 A.M. – 2:00 P.M.  The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with arrangements.
