Royall Blanks New Lisbon 2x in Baseball Doubleheader
The Royall Panthers completed a pair of 10-0 no hit victories over the New Lisbon Rockets Monday evening in a Scenic Bluffs Conference baseball doubleheader. Gunnar Wopat pitched his 2nd no hitter of the season in game 1 giving up no hits in 5 innings while walking 3 and striking out 8. Tyrus Wildes went 3×3 with 4RBI’s at the plate for the Panthers and Jett Bender went 1×3 with a pair of RBI’s. Seth Brandau pitched a 5 inning no-hitter for the Panthers in game two. Brandau gave up no hits walked only 1 and struck out 8 Rocket batters in the victory. Seth also went 2×2 at the plate. Mason Morrisette had a base knock for the Panthers and Jerry Dilley picked up and RBI. The Panthers improved to 10-1 on their season and 8-1 in conference action. New Lisbon drops to 4-4 in the conference and 4-6 overall.
Anderson, Dorothy June Age 97
Dorothy June Anderson, age 97, died peacefully Saturday, April 20, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was the youngest of six children born to the late Reverend David and Ruth Barclay on June 11, 1926 in Elmwood, IL and is survived by her twin brother, David Barclay.
Dorothy (Dodo to her sibs) married Robert (Bob) Anderson on June 12, 1948. She graduated from Carroll College in Waukesha, WI. When her children were all in school, she embarked on a 30-year career as a teacher.
She was the loving and beloved mother of Jane Anderson; Margaret Anderson; Kay (David) Prusynski; Eric (Ruth) Anderson; and grandmother to John (Shree) Prusynski. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Bob Anderson; and siblings Norman (Kathleen) Barclay; Jean (Howard) Jones; Esther (Varge) Frisbie; William (Sally) Barclay; and sister-in-law Carol Barclay.
During her life she enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She fondly remembers the seven-week road trip in 1949 when she and Bob traveled west across the states, then north to Alaska, shortly after the Alcan Highway was opened to the public. They saw many landmarks, diverse wildlife, took a lot of pictures, and had a lot of flat tires.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, Scrabble, jigsaw puzzles, and singing. She was a prolific reader and loved spending time at the family cottage. While living in Adams, WI she volunteered at the local library and Faith in Action and was involved in community activities with the church and exercise groups. Although she regretted leaving her many friends in Adams, she soon made new friends at Oak Park Place in Madison, WI, where she moved in July, 2021. There she became active in exercise classes, crafts, and singing with the choir—right up until days before her death.

Blaha, David L. Age 71 of Hillsboro
David L. Blaha, age 71 years, of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024 at Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro.
He was born on March 19, 1953, the son of Albert “Bud” and Verna (Bliss) Blaha in Hillsboro. David graduated from the Hillsboro High School.
He had worked at GM in Janesville, Northern Plastics in Elroy and Wal Mart Distribution Center in Tomah.
Dave loved to be in his gardens, planting flowers and letting everyone enjoy them all. He would work until he was satisfied with what he was doing, whether it was putting up a fence, moving a wall, or just doing home improvements.
He was also a great pool player all throughout his life and enjoyed playing in pool tournaments, talking smack to friends, drinking coffee at a table or having people over for supper.
Dave also had lots of friends who liked being with him and standing by his side no matter the situation. And don’t forget the family that was there for him through thick and thin and never gave up on him throughout his life. Dave will be missed by his family and friends and his spirit will live on and on.
Survivors include his children, Billy Jo Blaha of La Valle, Matthew Blaha of Kendall and Marcus (Kelsey) Blaha of Mauston; grandchildren, Ethan, Payton and Bryson; siblings, Dale, Jeff, Scott and Becky and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and brothers, Steve and Jerry.
Memorial Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with a time of visitation from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Picha Funeral Home.

Graham, Arlene Doris Age 78 of Adams
Arlene Doris Graham, age 78, of Adams, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 at her home and today she is having her bagels and coffee with Jesus .
Arlene was born December 27, 1945 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Harold and Willoween “Billie” (Austin) Hammond.
With her two beloved brothers Raymond and Bruce and their parents they loved camping on the shores of Lake Michigan. Arlene was quite a water bug and she loved s’mores and campfires.
She married Craig Daniel Graham on June 11, 1966 in Whittaker, Michigan.
For their honeymoon they vacationed at her families beloved cottage on Birch Lake. This is where Arlene caught the trophy fish not Craig.
Together Arlene and Craig created a family with daughters Tamela(Tammy) and Sherri. Mom was well known by her daughter’s friends for the best Nestle mud bars and rice crispy treats. She also was know to teach both daughters how to dance in the kitchen while playing her 45’s.
Arlene’s love for Christ was shared with her family and as a Sunday School teacher, a member of Women’s Ministries and volunteering at the Assembly of God church.
Arlene’s love of quilting turned into a ministry as she made multiple quilts that were donated anonymously to families in need throughout Adams Co. through Social Services. This lead is how the Adams Community Quilters was created

Beware of phone scams
There is a phone scam that has been making its way through our area.
Patients are being contacted by people posing as employees from trusted organizations – like hospitals, clinics and pharmacies. Instead of asking for the usual credit card or social security card numbers, these scammers are asking patients to verify their insurance/Medicare ID numbers. The information is then used to access and utilize protected health information in a harmful way.
If you are ever in doubt, don’t give your information out.

Fiene, Janet J. Age 87 of Poynette
Janet J. Fiene died peacefully at her home in Poynette, Wisconsin, on April 15, 2024 at the age of 87.
Janet was born on June 4, 1936, in Greenwood, WI, to Geneva (Kitzhaber) Stiefvater and George Stiefvater. She graduated from Greenwood high school in 1954. She married Donald Fiene on April 25, 1959. Together they raised their 4 children primarily in Sun Prairie, WI. Later she and Don moved to Adams, WI, where they enjoyed their retirement years.
Jan worked as a seamstress for Misako’s Drapery Shop. She also was a department manager at Walmart in Sun Prairie. She was an avid fan of the Packers, Bucks and Brewers. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Friendship prior to moving to Poynette.
Janet is survived by her children, Steve Fiene (Kay), Teri Mueller (Dan), Mark Fiene (Joan), and Paul Fiene (Lori); grandchildren, Robyn Mueller, Erika Krammer (Sean), Misty Healey; great grandchildren, Evelyn Krammer, Emily Krammer, and brother, Thomas Stiefvater (Linda Sheppard). She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bernard (Buzz) Stiefvater, sister, Mary Jo, and husband, Donald Fiene.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Friendship, WI, with a reception to follow. Visitation will be at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Yuba Woman Facing Charges after Driving Erratically at School
Richland County Sheriff Clay Porter and Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson report the arrest of Tasha Elaine Sittig, age 32, of rural Lone Rock, WI. On Wednesday morning, April 17, 2024, at approximately 10:00 AM, the Richland County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a Hit & Run crash that occurred at the intersection of County Road C and Pine Road, in the village of Yuba, in Richland County. No injuries were reported; however, the striking vehicle, described as a black SUV, reportedly left the scene and was last seen traveling north on County Road H, toward Vernon County. A Richland County deputy sheriff arrived at the scene of the crash and met with the victim who reported that the SUV was being operated in a reckless manner and the crash may have been intentional. At approximately 3:30 PM, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center received multiple reports of a black SUV being driven recklessly in the village of Viola in both Richland and Vernon Counties. One of the callers reported the vehicle drove through a barricaded portion of North Commercial Street (State Highway 131) that was under construction.
The SUV, bearing the same license plate number as the Hit & Run victim reported, was located in the village of Viola, and the operator was identified as Tasha Elaine Sittig, age 32, of Gotham, rural Lone Rock, WI. Sittig was taken into custody just before 4:00 PM and transported to the Richland County Jail and booked on charges of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer. Sittig appeared in Richland County Circuit Court the following day for a Bond Hearing and bail was set $500.00 Cash.
Formal charges were filed by Richland County District Attorney Jennifer Harper. Sittig was also cited for three traffic infractions.
On Monday, April 22, 2024, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the operator of a black SUV had driven recklessly through the Kickapoo Area Schools campus on April 1 st and again on April 17th. During the investigation, video evidence and multiple witness statements were obtained. There was no school on April 1st, but students were present on April 17th and in the vicinity of the suspect vehicle that traveled through the campus at a high rate of speed, in the wrong direction of a one-way portion of the road in front of the school.
Charges of First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety are being sought through Vernon County District Attorney Angela Palmer-Fisher. On April 23rd, at 10:00 AM, Sittig appeared in Vernon County Circuit Court, via Zoom from the Richland County Jail where she was still being held on the cash bond ordered in Richland County. A $500.00 Cash Bond was also ordered in Vernon County. Three special conditions of bond are:
1) The defendant shall not come within five hundred (500) yards of Kickapoo Area Schools.
2) The defendant shall not possess or consume any controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician.
3) The defendant shall comply with random drug testing by law enforcement upon reasonable suspicion of recent drug use or possession.
Tasha Sittig is due back in Vernon County Circuit Court on May 7th, at 8:30 AM, and Richland County Circuit Court on the same day, at 1:00 PM, for initial appearances. At the time of this news release, Sittig remains in the

Mauston Passes Another No Mow May
The City of Mauston recently approved another season of No Mow May. Residents and property owners wishing to participate can pick up a yard sign at City Hall to place in your front yard during May.
Participants will be exempt from typical weed and grass cutting requirements during May, but must bring their lawns back into compliance no later than Monday, June 10th, 2024. Anything after June 10th that is not in accordance with city ordinance will be enforced.
We kindly urge those who participated last year and still have signs to reuse them for this season or return them to City Hall.
Peper, Paul S. Age 59 of LaValle
Paul S. Peper, age 59, of LaValle, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. He was born on February 21, 1965, in Reedsburg, WI, the son of LaVern and Adeline (Thieding) Peper. Paul was a graduate of Webb High School. He was employed with Grede Foundry for 17 years. Paul milked and worked for his aunt and uncle on their farm for several years and was a former pharmacy driver for Phillips Pharmacy. Most recently, he was a Correctional Officer at the New Lisbon Correctional Institution.
On August 17, 1996, Paul was united in marriage to Linda Drea. This marriage was blessed with a son, Colton. Paul was an avid sports fan. He was a little league coach in Colton’s youth and had fun traveling with the teams to various tournaments. He was a Vikings fan and enjoyed going to Brewer baseball games and Badger football games. Paul was a hunter and fisherman and found relaxation in the outdoors. He had an eye for art and was a talented Taxidermist. He owned and operated Peps Taxidermy where he created unique mounts.
Paul is survived by his wife, Linda of LaValle; son, Colton (Michaela) Peper of Reedsburg; brothers, Doug Peper, Brian (Katie) Peper; sister, Pam Peper, all of Loganville; step-mother, Verdi Peper of Loganville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat (Sheryl) Drea of Hillpoint, Lisa (Chris) Calhoun of Elroy, Mike (Mandi) Drea of Cazenovia; nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and mother and father-in-law, JoAnn and Tom Drea.
Funeral services for Paul Peper will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 29, 2024, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Tuckertown. Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. Memorials of remembrance may be made to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
