Mauston Wins 2 at Monday Woodside Baseball League

The Mauston Summer baseball team stayed undefeated in the Monday Woodside League with a pair of victories Monday night.  Mauston opened the night with an 8-6 victory over Nekoosa.  Mauston fell behind early 3-0 but took the lead in the 5th on an RBI single by Eli Rader.  Mauston would add some much needed insurance in the 6th inning capped off by an RBI double from Evan Freimuth.  Tyler Link had a triple and was the winning pitcher on the mound for Mauston.  Mauston would later win a pitchers dual over Madison East 1-0 to move to 4-0 on their Monday Woodside League Schedule. 

Dells Clobbers Royall in Woodside League Baseball Opener

The Wisconsin Dells American Legion Post 187 baseball team defeated Royall 10-0 to kick off the summer Woodside League schedule.  The Dells jumped on top with a big 4 run first inning.  Ethan Pope went 2×2 with a pair of RBIs for the Dells.  Nolan Pope went 2×4 with 2runs scored.  Carter Syverson picked up the win pitching 6 scoreless innings scattering 5 hits while striking out 7 and walking none.  Cole Eberhardt went 2×3 for Royall while Trey Wildes went 1×3 with a double.  Royall drops to 0-1 in Woodside League action. 

Cunitz Big Weekend Leads Tomah 16U Legion to Wilton Tournament Championship

The Tomah 16U American Legion baseball team won the Wilton 16U Tournament finishing with a 3-1 record. Tomah tied both Adams-Friendship and G-E-T with matching 3-1 records but won the tiebreaker with the most runs scored in the tournament.  Tomah opened up with a 9-0 victory over Adams-Friendship Friday night. Jackson Steffel went 2×2 with a homerun and 5 RBI’s in the victory.  Saturday morning Tomah fell to G-E-T 4-2, Tomah would bounce back to defeat Black River Falls 12-5 in the nightcap.  Tomah finished out the tournament with a 9-8 come from behind victory over Chippewa Falls.  Brookwood’s Jackson Cunitz went 9×11 with 5 doubles and 8 RBI’s in the tournament and was named the tournament MVP. 

Tomah/SBC Legion Loses 19U Season Opener

The Tomah American Legion baseball team kicked off its season across the border falling to La Crescent 2-1 Wednesday night.  TJ Shramek took the loss on the mound for Tomah giving up just 2 runs 1 earned in 5innings walking none and striking out 8.  Royall’s Gunnar Wopat went 1×2 for Tomah. Hunter Welke picked up the win on the mound for La Crescent. Tomah will host Wisconsin Dells and Nekoosa in a Triangular Saturday. 

Royall Loses Sectional Final in Heartbreaking Fashion

The Royall Panthers came up just short in a bid for state on the baseball diamond.  Royall won their first game 9-1 over the De Soto Pirates in the sectional semi-final game.  Gunnar Wopat pitched 6 strong innings giving up just 1 unearned run scattering 5 hits walking 1 and striking out 2.  Tyrus, Tucker, and Trey Wildes all had a pair of hits in the victory for the Panthers.  Jett Bender also had a pair of hits and an RBI for Royall.  Royall’s victory earned them into the sectional championship game where they fell in a heartbreaker 2-1 to Eleva-Strum.  The game was a pitchers dual between Carter Gunderson of Eleva-Strum and Seth Brandau of Royall.  The game was tied 1-1 into the bottom of the 7th when Eleva-Strum won on a walk off hit by Noah Martinson.  Royall finishes their season with an 18-5 record.  Royall says farewell to seniors Jeremiah Dilley, Gunnar Wopat and Tyrus & Tucker Wildes all who left a big stamp on Royall athletics.

Hillsboro Softball Falls in Sectional Final

The Hillsboro Tigers Softball Team came up short in their bid for a state tournament appearance falling to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 10-0 Thursday evening.  Assumption pitcher Macy Vollert held the Tigers scoreless through 5 innings scattering 5 hits walking none and striking out 11.  Vollert also went 2×4 with a homerun at the plate.  Arrianna Cavanaugh hit a 3 run homerun to bust the game open in the 4th.  Harper Sullivan and Maddie Herritz each went 1×2 for Hillsboro.  It was the deepest run Hillsboro Softball has ever made in the post season.  Hillsboro finishes their season with a 19-4 record.  It was a great career for the two senior Peyton Sullivan and Jaelyn Bloor.

Royall Walks Off Into Sectionals

The Royall Panther baseball team rallied past Seneca 5-4 in a WIAA Division 4 Regional Championship game Wednesday evening.  Tyrus Wildes capped off the rally with an 8th inning walk off single with two outs in the extra frame.  Royall spotted Seneca a 4 run lead in the first inning but battled back.  Royall tied it in the 5th on an RBI groundout by Trey Wildes.  Cole Eberhardt went 2×2 with 2RBI’s for the Panthers who are making their first trip to sectionals since 2021.  Tucker Wildes went 2×3 and Seth Brandau picked up the win in relief.  Brandau pitched 4 scoreless inning giving up just 2hits a walk while striking out 5.  Royall will play De Soto up in Blair-Taylor on Tuesday at 1pm if Royall wins they would play again at 4pm with a trip to state on the line.
