Delbert moved to Wisconsin in his early 20’s with his family to farm. On August 20, 1966, Delbert married the love of his life, Joyce Stayton, at Bethel Baptist Church in Camp Douglas. Joyce soon moved to the farm where they were able to raise their 5 children together. Outside of farming, Delbert worked at Camp Williams as a facility repairman and security until his retirement on March 31, 2000. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, woodworking, spending quality time and joking around with his brothers, and tinkering with his John Deer tractors. In his later years, Delbert enjoyed driving out on his Kubota and visiting with the Amish, and at times, picking them up alongside his son, Bart, as well as playing cards and marbles. He was a passionate motorcyclist who often rode with other church friends calling themselves Heaven’s Angels. Together with Joyce, they traveled across the United States to various places, some favorites being Colorado and Washington. Most recently, his favorite place became his chair, where he enjoyed spending time watching the Wheel of Fortune. Delbert’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren became the highlight of his life in his later years.  Delbert will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Schultz, Stephine Dawn Marie Bennett Age 47 of Necedah

Stephine Dawn Marie Bennett Schultz, age 47, of Necedah, WI. passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Serenity House in Tomah, WI.

She was a mother, daughter, niece, a best friend, and so much more. She is survived by her, daughters; Halee, Olivia, and Justice, her mom Janice, and her 6 siblings: Kristopher, June, Linda, Denny John, Bobby, and Eddie.

Most people would describe her as the sunshine in their lives. Others would say she was the most beautiful person, inside and out. When she walked into a room she could put, even the tensest of people, at ease. Her smile was one that could make even the cloudiest day become sunny, the darkest night have the brightest stars. The clearest sky pales in comparison to her beautiful blue eyes. She had a purer soul than anyone else. She was the most thoughtful, kind, generous woman anyone has ever known. She was always there for anyone that ever needed her. Whether it was to talk, laugh, cry, or just sit in silence. She was there if you wanted to just not be by yourself.

Anyone who has ever met Stephine knows that when she is in your life, she changes it. She changes it always for better. If you called her crying, she would always cheer you up and make sure you’re okay before she hung up. If you called her angry, she’d always calm you down. If you called her happy, she kept it that way. Most of all, she was always happy. She could’ve had a bad day, but she’d always have a smile on her face. She’d always answer with, “just peachy” if you asked how she was.

She spent many years of her life working. For over twenty years she worked at Maggie’s Market and made sure everyone who came in had the best experience. After that she worked in group homes, doing what she was the best at. Taking care of others. Stephine lives on through her mother, daughters, brothers, sisters, and in everyone’s hearts and memories. Now, whenever you look up at the sky, know that she is always watching over us. In both the sun, the moon, and the stars that she hung.

Per Stephine’s wishes no services are being planned. The Hare Funeral Home in New Lisbon is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences are available at www.harefuneralhome.com

2025 HS Football Previews -Cashton Eagles

Cashton Eagles

2024 Record: 5-5 (4-3 Scenic Bluffs Conference)

Head Coach: Jered Hemmersbach

Mike’s 2025 Projected Record 7-2 (5-2 Scenic Bluffs Conference)

Players to Watch: QB/LB Drew Butzler RB/LB Jack Christensen RB/LB Graham Hemmersbach RB/DB Landon Laufenberg RB/LB Owen Von Ruden K Connor Wilkinson OL/DL Mitchell Simonson TE Rory Mlsna

Team Preview: Cashton was a young team a season ago who had its ups and downs.  With a year of experience under their belts theyre expected to have higher expectations this season.  A big switch is last year’s QB Rory Mlsna switching from Quarterback to Tight End and Fullback Drew Butzler switching from FB to Quarterback.  Butzler (2-2-0-49yards 0tds, 45-284 3tds) has a strong arm and should be a mobile QB as well. Cashton has a plethora of running backs with a balance of power and speed. Jack Christensen (159-984 13tds) is back to lead the backfield.  Owen Von Ruden (26-111 0tds) is a solid fullback and Graham Hemmersbach (25-197 2tds) has a lot of speed at the wing back position.  Landon Laufenberg could also see time at the wingback spot he had just 2catches but for 111yards both going for touchdowns last year.  Mitchell Simonson and Kalen McCracken should anchor the O-line.  Expect Cashton to have a stingy defense with a lot of speed and a strong line backing core. We will see how much Cashton has grown since last season but expect them to do big things this year in the conference.

Key to Success: Developing The Tight End Spot.  Cashton returns a lot but lost both their tightends from last season.  Mlsna moving to tight end should give them a boost with his size and strength. Cashton likes to run to the edges making those tightends have to earn their keeps in the blocking game.

Game to watch:  Week 9 Friday October 17th at Royall

Royall got a big victory over Cashton last year.  Cashton will look for revenge and could be playing for a conference championship in Week 9 of their season.

Tamara Ann Williams (Bonus), born April 13 1960, passed away August 14th, 2025 peacefully but unexpectedly at her home in Friendship, Wi at the young age of 65 with her beloved dog Oreo by her side!

Tammy married her high school sweetheart in 1978 in Waukesha Wi and shared 45 years of love and laughter before his passing in 2023. They created a beautiful family together and raised three children! They enjoyed get aways with family up north before moving to Friendship and making it their home.

Tammy’s warmth, wit, humor and strength left a mark on everyone lucky enough to know her. She was an amazing gardener who always had the most beautiful yard. She worked hard her entire life, never afraid to get her hands dirty and was a powerful independent woman. One thing Tammy couldn’t live without was her kwik Trip coffee with a straw, her family, and friends, and her dog Oreo who she loved to dress up! She had the best sense of humor and always knew how to make the bad times tolerable through laughter. She enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors, being outdoors, chatting, and putting puzzles together.

She is survived by her loved children: Brian Jr. (Amy) Williams, Kelly Rodriguez Williams, and Andy Williams; Her siblings: Joey (Linda) Bonus, Michael (Rohnda) Bonus, Diana (Paul) Tobolt, and Billy (Laurie) Bonus.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tammy’s life not with tears alone, but with laughter, stories, music, and maybe even a little karaoke in her honor. The celebration will be held August 22nd, 2025 starting at 2pm at Faith Christian church in Mauston, Wi and lunch to follow. She will be put to rest next her husband Brian Sr on August 25th at Wales cemetery at 10am. She would want everyone to remember that life is short & the flowers need watering!

2025 HS Football Previews – Hillsboro Tigers

2025 Hillsboro Tigers

2024 Record: 6-4 (4-3 Scenic Bluffs Conference)

Head Coach: Eric Auel

Mike’s 2025 Projected Record 6-3 (4-3 Scenic Bluffs Conference)

Players to Watch: QB/DB Miles Ravenscroft RB/LB Caden Clark RB/LB Tyler Slama TE/LB David Johnson OL/LB Ryan McCoic OL/DL Dane Green OL/DL Jorge Quinonez

Team Preview: If youre looking for a dark horse pick to win the Scenic Bluffs Conference look no further than the Hillsboro Tigers. The Tigers return a lot of size and strength from last year’s team.  Caden Clark, David Johnson, Ryan McCoic Dane Green and Jorge Qunonez are all bruisers for the Tigers that bring the boom. Clark was 2nd on the team in tackles with 47 last season.  Miles Ravenscroft (12-20-1-95 0tds passing 43-296 3tds rushing) is one of the more athletic QB’s in the conference and is looking to stay healthy and be that much more dangerous this year after suffering a week 1 shoulder injury last year. Caden Clark (125-765 7tds) is a physical fullback that will wear opposing defense out. Hillsboro doesn’t throw the ball much but David Johnson has some sure hands in the passing game for the Tigers.  I have Hillsboro going just 4-3 in the conference but don’t be surprised if they win some games theyre not supposed to giving them a shot at a conference championship.

Key to Success: New Care Tigers in the backfield! Joseph Cairns led the team in the offensive and defensive backfields last season.  He led the team in tackles defensively and rushing offensively.  Hillsboro must find a way to replace his production.  Caden Clark and Tyler Slama will help lead the rushing attack and Clark and Dane Green should fill the gaps defensively.

Game to watch:  Week 5 Friday September 19th at Royall

Last year’s game was an instant classic comeback for Hillsboro. This year’s matchup could be equally as good and should be a physical game between two teams with a lot of beef upfront.

Necedah Man Station at Fort McCoy Charged with Possessing Child Pornography

A Necedah man stationed at Fort McCoy faces three felony charges for possessing child pornography after investigators discovered hundreds of illegal images and videos linked to his online accounts.

Coady Allen Loy, 36, was charged April 14 in Juneau County court with three counts of possession of child pornography. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

Loy is currently free on $7,500 bond after initially being held on $50,000 cash. Court records list addresses at Fort McCoy military base, where he has lived since at least May 2025.

The investigation began March 6 when the Wisconsin Department of Justice received a tip about illegal content showing two young girls. Investigators traced the material to internet accounts registered to Coady Schiltz of Necedah, which they later determined was Loy’s former name.

Court documents show investigators obtained search warrants for two messaging accounts. The accounts contained 699 and 375 files respectively, mostly videos and images.

According to the criminal complaint, Loy used these accounts to communicate with other users about trading illegal material. In messages reviewed by investigators, he discussed access to content involving children, saying he was looking to build “my younger stuff.”

The complaint shows Loy had been traveling between Wisconsin and St. Louis for work. Investigators learned he was scheduled to travel to South Korea for military purposes on April 12, just two days before charges were filed.

As part of his bond conditions, Loy cannot have contact with anyone under 18 years old and was ordered to surrender his passport to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department. He is prohibited from using any internet-capable devices except government-issued computers for work and communication with his attorney. He cannot leave Wisconsin.
