Lifesaving Award Issued in Juneau County

Monday afternoon, Sheriff Zobal and Undersheriff Board presented lifesaving awards to Deputy Mitchell Schlichting, Deputy Amber Kuhl and Dispatcher Megan Covelli.

Dispatcher Covelli received her lifesaving award for her actions on a cardiac arrest 911 call she received on October 9, 2023.  This is her second lifesaving award.

Deputy Kuhl and Deputy Schlichting received their lifesaving award  for action taken with an unresponsive adult on May 31, 2024.

Dispatcher Covelli, Deputy Kuhl, and Deputy Schlichting, thank you for doing all that you do to keep our communities safe!

Tomah/SBC Legion Baseball Wins in Cazenovia

The Tomah American Legion baseball team took down Cazenovia 12-4 Sunday afternoon in a nine inning game.  Tomah used 3 pitchers to pick up the victory. TJ Shramek started the game giving up nothing on 2 infield hits 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.  Jackson Steffel came in and pitched 3 perfect innings striking out 5 to earn the win on the mound and Tucker Frandsen finished the game for the Tomah Senior Legion team.  Tucker Frandsen went 4×6 with 2 RBI’s while Brett Fleitner went 3×5 with 2RBI’s.  Gunnar Wopat, TJ Shramek, and Kole Trap all had 2 hits apiece for the Tomah Legion team.  Isaac Jennings and Trevor Westfphal each had 3 hits for Cazenovia.  Tomah picked up their 3rd win of the week to improve to 4-9 on their season.  Tomah fell 5-4 to Whitehall on Friday night. 

Royall Splits 2 Games in Woodside Baseball League

The Royall summer baseball team split a pair of hard fought games Tuesday night out at the Summer Woodside League.  Royall dropped the first game 4-2 to Ithaca.  Trey Wildes went 1×4 with an RBI triple and Tyrus Wildes went 1×2 with an RBI.  Sammy Clary picked up the complete game victory for Ithaca.  Cody Byrnes had a 2 run double in the third to help propel Ithaca. Royall bounced back winning vs Wisconsin Dells Legion Post 187 2-1.  Cole Eberhardt picked up the complete game victory for Royall giving up just one run on 4 hits walking 2 and striking out 4.  Eberhardt also went 2×2 with and RBI at the plate.  Tyrus Wildes went 1×2 with a triple and Colby Schroeder had the winning RBI for Royall.  Royall is now 2-3 on their Woodside League schedule.  Wisconsin Dells got an inside the park homerun from Curtis Griefenhagen for their lone run.    

Tomah Blanks Gays Mills in Legion Baseball Pitchers Duel

The Tomah/Scenic Bluffs American Legion Baseball 19U team defeated Gays Mills in a pitchers duel 1-0 Monday night.  4 Tomah pitchers combined to 3 hit Gays Mills.  Royall’s Gunnar Wopat got the start and pitched 2 2/3 hitless innings striking out 6.  Owen Laudon pitched the next 3 innings and gave up just 2 hits while striking out 4.  Landon Ewing and Tucker Frandsen pitched the final 1 1/3 innings giving up nothing on a hit while combining to strike out 3 batters.  Ewing earned the hold while Frandsen picked up the save.  Tomah’s lone run came on a passed ball that allowed Wopat to score in the 5th inning. Kole Trap went 2×3 with a double for Tomah at the plate. Jack Payne took the tough luck loss for Gays Mills pitching 4 1/3 innings giving up just 1 unearned run on 3hits. 

Clark, Michael J. Age 59 of Lyndon Station

Michael J. Clark, age 59, of Lyndon Station, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy Clark; children: Lloydd (Beth), Matt, Nathan (Laura), and Amanda; grandchildren: Michael, Torra-Jean, Jonny, Damon, Emilio, Destynee, Jason, Logan, Bently and Mavis; sister, Debbie (Connie); brother, Charlie; sisters-in-law: Kay and Patsy; his in-laws, Dave and Rita; and his ex-wife Edith.

A memorial service for Michael will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Reedsburg Church of God. Visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. There will be a potluck supper to follow at Club Chapparal.

Quist, Marjorie A. “Tootie” Age 90 of Kendall/Clifton Area

Marjorie A. “Tootie” Quist, of Kendall/Clifton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2024, at the
age of 90, in Tomah, Wisconsin at Touch of Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church at Indian
Creek. Father Peter Raj will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are
invited for visitation Friday, July 12, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 4:00
p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on

Belcher, Kenneth Brandt Age 90 of Camp Douglas

Kenneth Brandt Belcher, 90, of Camp Douglas, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Tomah.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, 11:00 A.M at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (Indian Creek), 18316 County Hwy N, Tomah. Father Peter Raj Mariasamy will officiate. Military Honors by Earl- Gulligan American Legion Post #133 will follow. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Luncheon to follow in church basement (Elevator accessible).

6 Dead in Necedah Structure Fire

Officer Involved Shooting in Adams County

 

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating an officer involved shooting in the Town of Big Flats Wis. that occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, June 29, 2024.

 

At approximately 3:01 p.m., Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call for a driver under the influence of narcotics and armed with firearms. Deputies searched for and located the reported vehicle about an hour later and initiated several short pursuits.  During a pursuit, the subject fired a weapon at law enforcement, at which point law enforcement returned fire. The subject was injured as a result of the incident and received medical attention while on scene. The subject was transported to a hospital for critical injuries. No other individuals were injured during this incident.

 

Involved law enforcement are on administrative assignment, per agency policy.

 

DCI is leading this investigation and are assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Town of Rome Police Department, Wisconsin State Crime Lab and a DCI Crime Response Specialist. All involved law enforcement are fully cooperating with DCI during this investigation.

 

DCI is continuing to review evidence and determine the facts of this incident and will turn over investigative reports to the Adams County District Attorney when the investigation concludes.

2 Found Deceased in Adams County

On Thursday June 27, 2024 at 8:19 AM the Adams County Sheriff’s Office received a call advising that the caller had not been able to contact Sharon K. Miller, age 62 of Friendship for three days.  The reporting person advised she went to Sharon’s home located in the Adams County Town of Strongs Prairie that Sharon and Sharon’s son, Jami L. Lumby, age 37, were not there.  Deputies arrived and checked the property and did not locate either person.  Deputies identified recent ground disturbance consistent with digging or the burying of something on the property. A search warrant to further search the property was obtained.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to this investigation, and have dedicated every available resource to this investigation. 

We are now able to confirm that the adult body that was discovered on June 27, 2024 is that of Sharon K. Miller, known by family and friends as Sharon Miller-Robinson. Investigators also located the body of Jami L. Lumby at their residence.  The manner of their deaths are pending autopsy, but are both being investigated as suspicious deaths.

Staff from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Special Agents from the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation continue to collect and analyze evidence, and are conducting interviews. DOJ Crime Response Specialists are assisting family members in this investigation.

We are again asking for the public’s assistance if anyone has had any recent contact with Sharon or Jami to contact the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

No further information will be made available for release at this time.  Additional information will be made available as we are able to do so as the investigation continues to progress.
