Royall Necedah Split Softball Doubleheader

The Necedah Cardinals & Royall Panthers softball teams split a pair of games Tuesday evening, leaving Royall still sitting atop the Scenic Bluffs Conference standings.  Necedah took game 1 with a big 3rd inning where they took advantage of Royall miscues to score 4 runs and hang on for a 5-2 victory. Hannah Hunkins went 2×3 for the Cardinals who got a strong pitching performance by Addisyn Schumer who picked up the victory inside the circle. Bria Gruen had a double and triple in the loss for the Panthers.  Royall earned the split by taking game two by a final of 2-1. Kenday Olson had the game winning RBI in the top of the 5th and final inning scoring Piper Purcell. Olson also had a strong defensive game for the Panthers.  Ashleigh Klipstein picked up the win in the circle in game 2 for Royall.  Royall sits at 6-2 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference and 7-9 overall. Necedah is now 4-3 in the conference and 4-6 overall. 

Royall Baseball Blanks Hillsboro

The Royall Panthers baseball team kept their winning ways going with an 8-0 victory over the Hillsboro Tigers.  Trey Wildes picked up the win on the mound pitching 6 scoreless innings giving up no runs on 4hits walking 2 and striking out 7.  Wildes also went 3×3 at the plate with a double and an RBI.  Ben Crneckiy also had a big day at the plate going 3×3 with a double and 2RBI’s.  Jett Bender had a pair of hits as well for the Panthers who improve to 9-2 on their season and 6-0 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.  Braun Jirschle went 2×3 for the Tigers who drop to 4-2 in the conference and 5-3 overall. 

Royall Baseball Wins Pitchers Duel Over Brookwood

The Royall Panther baseball stands alone atop the Scenic Bluffs Conference after a dominating pitching performance once again by Senior Seth Brandau in a 1-0 victory over Brookwood Monday evening. Brandau pitched a complete game 2hit shutout.  Brandau walked one batter and struck out 9.  Royall needed Brandau’s pitching masterpiece as Brookwoods Owen Wang was nearly equal to the task.  Wang went 5 2/3 innings giving up just 1run on 1hit walking none and striking out 5.  Royall’s lone run came in the 2nd inning.  Jackson Bender led off with a double stole 3rd base and scored on a throwing error by the catcher trying to catch Bender stealing.  The game took just 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete.  Royall improves to 7-2 on their season and 4-0 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.  Brookwood drops to 4-1 in the conference and 6-2 overall.

Royall Baseball Sweeps Home Triangular to win 6th in a Row

The Royall Panthers baseball team extended their winning streak to 6 after winning a pair of non-conference games Saturday at their home triangular. Royall started off with an 8-1 victory over Weston.  Royall pulled away from a 2-1 game with 2runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th.  Garrett Dragan and Jackson Bender had big hits in those innings.  Carter Uppena had a big game at the plate going 3×4 with a double while Dragan went 2×4 with a pair of RBIs, Seth Brandau went 2×3.  Cole Eberhardt picked up the victory in relief going 4 1/3 innings giving up just 1unearned run on 4hits 1bb and 6 strikeouts. Trey Wildes started and gave up no runs over 2 2/3innings.  Brady Westphal scored the lone run for Weston.

Royall defeated Melrose-Mindoro in their second game of the triangular erupting for all 5 of their runs in the 6th innings.  Royall got exceptional pitching from Ben Crneckiy and Jett Bender.  Crneckiy went the first 4 2/3 innings giving up nothing on just 1hit 2walks while striking out 7 Mustang batters.  Jett Bender came in and pitched the final 2 1/3 innings giving up nothing on 1hit 1walk and striking out 1 to pick up his first career varsity victory.  Jackson Bender went 2×3 with the go ahead 2 run double in the 6th inning. Royall improves to 6-2 on their season, while Melrose-Mindoro drops to 5-3.

Royall Baseball Ends Bangors 33 Game SBC Winning Streak

The Royall Panthers baseball team got a big early leg up in the Scenic Bluffs conference race knocking off Bangor 7-3 on the road.  Seth Brandau picked up the complete game victory for Royall giving up just 1 earned run while scattering 4hits walking just one and striking out 7. The offense was paced by Jackson Bender and Garrett Dragan who each went 2×3 with a pair of runs driven in.  Brandau also went 2×4 2RBIs. Willy Reed and Bryce Anderson each had a double for the Cardinals while Eli Tucker took the loss on the mound.  Royall improves to 4-2 on their season and 3-0 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.  Bangor drops to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Royalls victory ended Bangors 33 game SBC winning streak. 

New Lisbon Track & Field Competes on New Broowkood Facility

The New Lisbon Track and Field teams completed Tuesday night at Brookwood High Schools new track facility.  It was great to see another school in the Scenic Bluffs Conference get a facility, and it was an amazing facility to go and compete.  There were 11 teams at the meet and the girls team took 7th place and the boys finished in 2nd.

The 4 x 100 relay team of Jamesen Pfaff, Brandon Voss, Jude Keltner, and Austin Berndsen finishing first

Jameson Barker finishing second in the 110 hurdles

Jamesen Pfaff finishing second in long jump

The 4 x 800 relay team of Gavin Gesler, Colby Pfaff, Dawson Stickney, and Josh Homan fishing third

Austin Berndsen with a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash

Sam Zebell with third place finishes in both shot and discus 

Jude Keltner with a third-place finish in triple jump

And Alivia Bailey with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash.

 

Next up for the Rockets is a trip to Cashton on Thursday night for the Cashton Invitational.

Hillsboro Downs La Farge in Softball Action

The Hillsboro Tigers defeated La Farge 12-4 in non-conference softball action Tuesday evening.  Hillsboro scored in every inning on their way to victory.  Harper Sullivan got the win in the circle, pitching 5 effective innings giving up 3runs on just 1hit.  Michelle Hora, Maddie Herritz, and Hayden Bohn each had a pair of hits for the Tigers.  Herritz and Bohn both had a pair of RBI’s while Hora added a double and a triple.  Kadence Lawrence had 3 run double for the Wildcats.  Hillsboro improves to 4-2 on the season. 

Klipstein’s Pitching Leads Lady Panthers Over Wonewoc-Center

The Royall Panther softball team got a strong pitching performance from Ashleigh Klipstein in a 7-0 victory over Wonewoc-Center Monday evening.  Klipstein pitched a complete game shutout giving up just 3hits walking none while striking out 10.  Royall took advantage of walks issued by Wonewoc-Center to notch their 7runs.  Royall scored 7 runs on just two base hits but took advantage of 10walks.  Aunika Wopat and Piper Purcell each had an RBI for Royall.  Callissa Keller, Mattison Preuss, and Olivia Peesel all had base hits for Wonewoc-Center in the loss.  Royall improves to 2-0 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference and 3-3 overall while Wonewoc-Center drops to 0-2 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference and 1-2 overall.

New Lisbon Track & Field Hosts Meet

The New Lisbon Track and Field team hosted 15 teams for the Mill Haven Invitational Track meet Saturday.  It was a picture-perfect day with some outstanding performances.  The boys’ team finished in 3rd place overall and the girls’ team finished 8th.  Placing in the top 3 and earning medals were:

Jamesen Pfaff with a second place finish in long jump and a third place finish in the 100 meter dash
Dawson Stickney with a third place finish in the 400 meter dash
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of Jamesen Pfaff, Brandon Voss, Jude Keltner and Austin Berndsen finished third

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Jude Keltner, Carter Pfaff, Dawson Stickney, and Brandon Voss finished third
 
The New Lisbon Track team would like to extend a huge thank you for all the volunteers that helped make this a successful meet for all that attended.  The feedback from coaches from how well the meet was received was awesome.  We would also like to thank our fans for turning out and cheering the athletes on.  It is really a site to see our facility full and buzzing with excitement.

Big Innings Lead Brookwood Past Hillsboro in SBC Softball

The Brookwood Falcons softball team out slugged the Hillsboro Tigers 13-7 Thursday evening.  Brookwood scored 3 runs in 4 different innings in the victory.  Emily Cunitz went 1×2 with a homerun for the Falcons, Willow Pasch went 3×4 with 3 RBI’s while Sophie Hyatt, and Bethany Baker each drove in a pair of runs for Brookwood.  Mallory Wallace picked up the victory inside the circle for Brookwood who improves to 2-1 on their season and 1-1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.  Hillsboro was led by Carmen Erickson who went 2×4 with 3RBIs while Michelle Hora went 3×3 in the loss.  Hillsboro drops to 2-2 and 0-1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.
