Hot 1st Half Shooting Lifts Royall Boys Past Mauston
The Royall Panther boys basketball team used hot shooting to push by Mauston 63-48 Monday night. Royall knocked down 14 three pointers in the game, 10 of them came in a burning hot first half for the Panthers. Trey Wildes knocked down five threes in this game on his way to a game high 20points. Braxton Board finished with 19points for Royall who improves to 12-2 on their season. Mauston was led by Jase Navis who finished with 16points while Andrew Dillin added 10points. Mauston drops to 10-4 on it season.
Rocket’s Start Strong End Strong in Girls Basketball win Over Wonewoc-Center
The New Lisbon Rockets held off a midgame charge by the Wonewoc-Center Wolves to win in Scenic Bluffs Girls Basketball action. New Lisbon built an early 34-10 lead but Wonewoc-Center went on an 18-4 run to get within 10 before halftime and trimmed that lead to 46-40 but New Lisbon used its team speed to seize back control of the game. Olivia Bunker led the charge for New Lisbon with a game high 20points while Keira Wilkinson, Karey Edgerton, and Ameilia Dvorak all added 13points for the Rockets. Wonewoc-Center got a team high 19points from Kendyl Rowe, Eastyn Fry added 13points while Bryn Burns chipped in with 12. New Lisbon improves to 3-5 in the Bluffs and 7-8 overall. Wonewoc-Center drops to 0-7 and 1-13.
Royall Hangs on For Big Non-Conference Victory
The Royall Panthers boys basketball team survived a late game rally by Westby to hang on for a 56-53 victory. Royall led 42-31 in the 2nd half but Westby rallied and got within 54-53 before Braxton Board hit a pair of clutch free throws for the Panthers. Westby had a chance to tie but Everett Hovens open 3point attempt rolled off the rim giving Royall the victory. Trey Wildes led the Panthers with 18points while Dylan Velazquez added 11points. Brock Preuss had two clutch three pointers for the Panthers as well in the victory. The win improves Royall to 10-2 on the season while Westby falls to 7-5. Next up for Royall is a home game vs conference undefeated Bangor on Thursday night. Royall is currently a game back to Bangor in the standings. Royall Holds Off Fighting Brookwood Team in SBC Boys Basketball
The Royall Panther boys basketball team held off a feisty Brookwood Falcons basketball team Tuesday night 64-48. Royall could never pull away completely from the Falcons in the game. Dylan Velazquez led the Panthers with 22points while John Muehlenkamp and Braxton Board each added a dozen points. Brookwood was led by Drew Thurston who scored 16points off the bench for the Falcons. Royall improves to 4-1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference and 10-2 overall while Brookwood drops to 1-3 in the conference and 3-7 overall. Royall will travel to Wonewoc-Center Friday night.
Hellers & Hansens Big Night Leads Lady Golden Eagles by Tigers
Bre Heller and Crimson Hansen both had nights to remember for the Mauston Golden Eagles in an 89-72 victory over Hillsboro Thursday night. Heller had 22points in the victory and surpassed the 1,000point career milestone knocking down a 3pointer in the first half that was celebrated by family & fans alike. Heller discusses her milestone. Crimson Hansen also had a big game for the Golden Eagles scoring a game high 28points. Mauston led by as many as 24points in the game but Hillsboro would never completely go away thanks to a big scoring output from Aliana Clark (20points) Emma McGraw (19points) and Michelle Hora (19points). Mauston improves to 9-3 on their season and will travel to Adams-Friendship Thursday night. Hillsboro falls to 7-6 on their season.
Hillsboro Rallies Past New Lisbon to Stay in SBC Girls Championship Picture
The Hillsboro Tigers Girls basketball rallied past New Lisbon Friday night to stay in the conference championship picture. Hillsboro trailed 24-23 at halftime and trailed by as many as 7 to the Rockets in the 2nd half before they rallied for a 56-48 victory. Kaylee Hooks came off the bench to lead the comeback charge. Hooks had 10points all in the 2nd half including the go ahead 3pointer for the Tigers. Emma McGraw led the Tigers in scoring with 16points. New Lisbon led much of the game but seemed to wear down playing their 4th game in 6days. Keira Wilkinson led the Rockets with 18points while Olivia Bunker added 13. Hillsboro improves to 7-5 on their season and 4-1 in the Scenic Bluffs while New Lisbon drops to 5-8 on their season and 1-5 in the conference.
Royall Boys Crush Cashton Behind Strong Game from Velazquez
The Royall Panthers Boys Basketball used a big game from Dylan Velazquez to crush Cashton 83-25 Thursday night in Scenic Bluffs Conference action. Velazquez scored 24 of his 29points in the first half pushing the Panthers to a 44-8 halftime lead. Trey Wildes added 13points and Jason Johnson pitched in with 11 for the Panthers as the teams played with a running clock for the final 9minutes of the game. The win snapped the Panthers 2game losing streak and improves them to 7-2 on their season and 3-1 in Scenic Bluffs Conference action. Cashton drops to 2-7 and 1-2 in the conference. Royall Girls Gets Defensive in Victory Over Rival Falcons
The Royall Panthers girls basketball used strong defense to get by Brookwood 41-28 Tuesday night. Brookwood got off to an 8-2 lead but Royall answered with a 20-2 run to seize control of the game. Bria Gruen led the Panthers with 15points while Kayla Rick added 8. Ruby Muehlenkamp led Brookwood with 15points. The win improves Royall to 10-1 on their season and 4-1 in the Scenic Bluffs. Brookwood falls to 8-5 and 3-2 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference. Royall will travel to Cashton Friday night while Brookwood will take on conference leading Bangor.
Hillsboro Boys Push Past Viroqua
The Hillsboro Tigers boys basketball team held off a feisty Viroqua Blackhawks team Monday night garnering a 56-50 victory. The game was tied at 22 at halftime. Hillsboro got a team high 16points from sophomore Braun Jirschele, while Malekai Simpson returned to the lineup to add 12points including some clutch free throws down the stretch. Miles Ravenscroft added 10points for the Tigers. Viroqua was led by Freshman Noah Schwarz who had a game high 23points while Kolten Peterson added 18. Hillsboro improves to 5-4 on their season while Viroqua drops to 3-5. Hillsboro will host New Lisbon Thursday night.
Royall Girls Hold Off Black River Falls
They Royall Panthers girls basketball team improved to 6-1 on their season after holding off Black River Falls 48-39 Monday night. Royall nearly blew a 39-22 second half lead as Black River Falls clawed within 42-39 late in the game. Royall knocked down enough free throws down the stretch for the victory. Bria Gruen led the Panthers in scoring with 16points. Freshman Gianna Backaus led the Tigers with a game high 19points nearly leading Black River Falls back. Royall will play in the Richland Center Holiday tournament coming up this next Monday and Tuesday.
