Scenic Bluffs Looking for New Conference Commissioner

The Scenic Bluffs Conference is accepting applications for a motivated individual who is passionate about High School athletics to serve as its next Conference Commissioner. The Scenic Bluffs Conference includes the following school Districts:

Bangor Brookwood Cashton Hillsboro Necedah New Lisbon Royall Wonewoc – Union Center

To serve as Conference Commissioner, the individual should have a background in high school athletics and coaching, as well as reside in the geographic area that is in proximity to our member school districts. It is in the benefit of our student athletes and our member schools for the individual who serves in this role to attend athletic events throughout the school year in multiple districts to familiarize themself with the coaches, students, parents, and staff members of the schools they will be serving.

This is not a full-time position, but rather more of a part-time position. The salary range for this position will fall within the $10,000 – $15,000 pay range, depending on the experience of the selected individual. Below is a list of duties from the conference constitution:

Have a working knowledge of the conference constitution and defend its integrity.

Attend to all necessary conference correspondence.

Serve on all athletic committees.

Keep minutes at the annual meeting and additional meetings as requested.

Account for all monies collected and paid out of conference funds.

Invoice member schools for any financial obligations due to the conference.

Compile athletic schedules in a timely manner (two years in advance of their implementation).

Contract for game officials in football, volleyball, boys and girls varsity basketball, and wrestling. (Started in 2000-01).  (An evaluation of the procedure will take place at the annual meeting of the conference in the spring of every year.

Be a clearing house for all-conference selections.

Purchase all trophies and medals for the conference.

Perform other duties as assigned by the conference president that are within the scope of the commissioner’s office.

Is accountable to the principal’s organization.

Royall Bats Come Alive in Playoff Softball Victory

The Royall Panthers offense exploded to a 14-4 Softball victory over Cochrane-Fountain City in a D5 WIAA Regional Semi-Final game Tuesday evening.  Royall opened up the first inning with 4 runs capped off by a 2run double by Layla Marty.  Royall scored two more in the 2nd thanks to a 2run single by Aunika Wopat to extend the lead to 6-0.  C-FC got a run of their own in the top of the 4th but Royall answered back in a big way with a two run homerun by Bria Gruen and an RBI single by Marty in the bottom half to extend the lead to 9-1. C-FC scratched out 3 more runs in the 5th inning to pull within 9-4 but again Royall answered with a big offensive inning capped off by a 2run triple by Kenady Olson to go up 13-4.  Royall would end the game in the 6th inning thanks to a walk off mercy rule RBI single by Elizabeth Klipstein.  Ashleigh Klipstein picked up the victory in the circle and Brynn Olson went 5×5 for the Panthers at the plate.  Royall moves on to play Marshfield Columbus Catholic in Marshfield Thursday evening.

Bangor Holds Off Mauston with Diving Catch

The Mauston Golden Eagles baseball team came up just short in their comeback attempt vs Bangor Friday evening.  Mauston trailed 3-0 early but rallied to tie the game up at 3-3 capped off by a double from Connor Newlun. Bangor would retake the lead in the top of the 7th on a bloop rbi single by Dayne Langrehr and add one more run to go up 5-3.  Mauston was able to get a run back in the 7th thanks to a Bangor error and had the tying run at third when Bryce Anderson made a diving catch to rob Evan Freimuth of a game tying hit to end the game, with Bangor hanging on 5-4.  Hayden Gyllin made his first ever appearance on the mound and took the loss despite pitching well he also added a double at the plate.  Eli Tucker picked up the win on the mound for Bangor while Dayne Langrehr notched the save, Langrehr went 2×4 with the go ahead RBI.

Royall Picks Up 20th Baseball Win By Blanking Green Devils

The Royall Panther baseball team won their 20th game of the season Thursday evening with a 6-0 shutout victory over Adams-Friendship.  Royall managed to get 6runs on just 3hits.  Garrett Dragans 2run single in the 5th put the game out of reach for Adams-Friendship.  Trey Wildes & Ben Crneckiy combined for a 2hit shutout for Royall.  Wildes pitched the first 6innings giving up nothing on just 2hits a walk and six strikeouts.  Crneckiy pitched the final inning giving up nothing while striking out a pair.  Kale Gatterman gave up 4runs on just 2hits for Adams-Friendship, he walked 6 and struckout 6. Royall is now 20-5 on their season heading into the postseason.   

Necedah Wins Matchup With Future Rocket Teammates

The Necedah Cardinals baseball team used strong pitching to get by rival New Lisbon 5-2 Monday evening.  Brady Cross pitched 6 strong innings giving up just 2runs on 3hits while walking only one and striking out eight.  Brady Keller picked up the save in the 7th getting a double play to end the game.  Keller added an RBI single for Necedah in the 3rd inning.  Jacob Jax took the loss but pitched well for the Rockets.  Nate Jensen had an RBI double for New Lisbon in the loss.  This will be the final matchup between these two teams on the baseball diamond for at least the next two years as they will combine into a co-op starting next spring. 

Royall Splits Pair of Baseball Games in Viroqua

The Royall Panther Baseball team split a pair of games in Viroqua on Saturday.  The Panthers fell 3-2 to the host Blackhawks.  An RBI double from Ben Crnicky tied the game in the 4th at 2-2 but Viroqua got a go ahead single in the 6th inning from Jack Dahl to secure to victory.  Cole Eberhardt went 3×3 in the loss.  Royall defeated Richland Center 2-1 in game two, getting a strong outing from Eberhardt on the mound who pitched a complete game giving up just 1run on 5hits walking 1 and striking out 6 including striking out the side in the 7th inning.  Trey Wildes had a double and both RBI’s in the victory.  Royall is now 18-5 on their season. 

New Lisbon Track Teams Finish 1st and 2nd at Nekoosa

The New Lisbon Track and Field Teams competed Tuesday night at the Nekoosa Invitational.  The girls’ team took second and the boys took home first.  Finishing in the top 3 and earning medals were:

Royall Blanks Bangor to Take Control of SBC Baseball Race

The Royall Panther baseball team took complete control of the Scenic Bluffs Conference championship race with an 8-0 victory over Bangor Thursday evening.  Strong Royall defense kept the game scoreless into the third inning. Cole Eberhardt caught Eli Tucker trying to steal third in the opening inning and Carter Uppena threw out a runner trying to score at home in the 2nd inning.  Uppena led off the third inning with a double and later came around to score on a wild pitch to give Royall the early lead.  Eberhardt would tack on an RBI single that same inning.  Royall pulled away in the 4th on a bases clearing double by Eberhardt to put Royall up 6-0, Brendan Rick would add a 2 run single in the 5th inning to create the final 8-0 margin of victory.  Seth Brandau had a complete game shutout for Royall scattering 5 hits walking a pair and striking out 7.  The win moves Royall to 11-0 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference and 15-4 overall.  Bangor drops to 5-2 and 10-4 overall.

New Lisbon Relay Team Sets New School Record at Bangor Meet

The New Lisbon Track and Field Teams took a light line up into the Bruce Brewer Invitational on Tuesday night to complete against other area teams as one of the last meets to prepare for conference.  The Boys team finished 9th and the Girls finished 14th.  
 
Finishing in the top 3 and earning medals were:
 
Jamesen Pfaff in the long jump with a first-place finish

The 4 x 100 relay team of Jamesen Pfaff, Brandon Voss, Jude Keltner, and Austin Berndsen finishing second and breaking their own school record time with a new school record time of 44.76.
 
Next up for the Rockets is a meet Thursday in Hillsboro to continue to work on fine tuning our line up for the Conference meet.

Cashton Defeats Hillsboro Takes Control of SBC Softball Race

The Cashton Eagles now control their own destiny to a SBC Championship after downing Hillsboro 7-5 Monday evening.  If Cashton wins out they will do no worse than share the conference championship. Hillsboro despite the loss is in the same position.  Cashton used a big 3 run 3rd inning to seize the lead and hang on for the victory despite a furious Hillsboro rally. Cashton led 4-0 going into the 6th inning but Hillsboro struck for 3 runs in the 6th charged by a 2 run bomb by Michelyn Hansen, Cashton answered back with a 3 run bottom of the 6th to go up 7-3.  Hillsboro loaded the bases in the 7th with nobody out but Hansen hit a line drive to 3rd which was caught and the fielder was able to double off the baserunner at 3rd to halt the Tiger comeback attempt.  Hayden Bohn and Kiana Liska each had a pair of hits in the Tigers loss.  Sophie Lucazewski and Peyton Brueggen each had 3 hits for the Eagles. Cashton improves to 6-3 in the conference and 9-7 overall.  Hillsboro drops to 4-3 in the conference and 8-6 overall.
