Big 2nd Inning Propels Tomah/SBC Baseball Team to Victory over Gays Mills
The Tomah/SBC 19U baseball team used a big 2nd inning to push by Gays Mills 9-4 Tuesday evening. Tomah scored 7runs in the 2nd inning and coasted to the victory. Jackson Steffel went 2×3 with a pair of RBI’s for Tomah while Brookwoods Julian Cunitz went 1×2 with 2RBI’s and 3 steals. New Lisbon’s Nate Jensen also added a hit in Tomah’s victory. Jackson Cunitz was the winning pitcher throwing 5 2/3 innings giving up 4runs on just 2hits walking 5 and striking out 7. It’s the 3rd straight win for the Tomah/SBC squad who improves to 6-5 on their season. Gays Mills is comprised of players from Kickapoo, Wauzeak-Steuben, and Seneca.
Summer Baseball Update from Monday 6-30
The Mauston Golden Eagles summer baseball team won a pair of games Monday night at the Monday Woodside League. Mauston won game one 9-1 over Nekoosa. The game lasted just 5 innings due to lightning. Beef Massey got the win on the mound giving up just 1run and 2hits while striking out 7 over 5 innings. Massey was equally good at the plate where he went 2×3 with a double and 5RBI’s. Evan Parsons added a pair of hits and Jacob Daniels went 2×2 with a double in the victory. Mauston defeated Wautoma 8-6 in game 2. Evan Parsons pitched 4 innings in the victory.
The Tomah/SBC 19U baseball team routed Baraboo 11-1 Monday night. Brookwoods Drew Thurston had 3hits and Kole Trapp had a pair of hits and 2RBIs. Gavin Courtney picked up the win going 5innings giving up just 1run on 3hits and striking out 5.

Wisconsin NBA Draft News
The Milwaukee Bucks drafted Serbian big man Bogo-lyoob Markovic with pick number 17 of the 2nd round in the NBA draft. Markovic played in the Serbian league where he averaged 18points and 9rebounds a game. Markovic is 6’11 and won gold medal well part of the 18U Serbian national team in 2023. Markovic will stay overseas this upcoming year leaving an open roster spot for the Bucks this upcoming season.
Wisconsin Badgers John Tonje was drafted by the Utah Jazz with the 53rd overall pick. Tonje scored 41 points against Arizona in a single game this last season for the Badgers.
Summer Baseball Update From Thursday 6/19
The Tomah 19U Legion baseball team managed just 1 hit in a 6-0 loss to Prairie Du Chien Thursday evening. Julian Cunitz led off the bottom of the first for Tomah with a hit but that was the only hit they managed. Cael Koenig had the complete game 1hitter for Prairie Du Chien. Blake Haun took the loos for Tomah.

New Lisbon’s Barfknechts Big Game Lifts Tomah Legion Over Holmen
New Lisbon’s Grady Barfknecht had a wopping 7RBI’s in Tomah 16U American Legion baseballs 15-4 victory over Holmen 16U. Barfnecht had an early bases clearing double to bust the game wide open. Barfnect finished with a 3hit performance. Teag Stevenson was the winning pitcher he went 6innings giving up 4runs on 7hits walking 2 and striking out 5. Tomah 16U is now 5-1 on their season.

Royall baseball Splits Pair in Woodside League
The Royall Panthers summer baseball team split a pair of games in its Woodside League Tuesday night. Royall opened up the night with a 5-1 victory over Ithaca. Trey Wildes went 5 innings giving up just 1run on 3hits walking 2 and striking out 7. Wildes also had an inside the park homerun at the plate. Cole Eberhardt notched the save pitching a pair of scoreless innings giving up just 1hit 1walk and striking out a pair. Jason Johnson went 1×3 with 3RBI’s for Royall in the victory. Adams-Friendship rallied by Royall in game 2 to win 5-4. Royall scored 4 runs in the opening inning but could not hang on. Brock Preuss had a hit and a pair of RBI’s in the loss for Royall. Cody Ratz got the win on the mound for Adams-Friendship and also had a 2 run double at the plate. Kale Gatterman came in to pick up the save.
Mauston Summer Baseball Opens up Woodside League with Split
The Mauston Summer baseball team split a pair of games at the Monday Woodside League. Mauston fell in the first game to DeForest 6-1. Evan Freimuth pitched 5 solid innings for Mauston in the loss. Mauston bounced back to defeat Nekoosa 5-0. Mauston got a combined shutout on the mound from Isaac Steinke and Beef Massey in the victory. Mauston will play another doubleheader at Woodside on Monday June 23rd.
Tomah16U Baseball Team featuring Scenic Bluffs Kids Wins Wilton Tournament
The Tomah 16U American Legion Baseball team won the Wilton regular season tournament going 3-1. Tomah fell in the opener 8-4 to Fond Du Lac but bounced back to hold off Black River Falls 10-9 in 9innings before holding off Adams-Friendship 5-2 to earn their rematch in the championship game vs Fond Du Lac. Tomah got great pitching from Brady Thompson to win the championship game 3-0. Thompson went 6 2/3innings giving up nothing on 5hits 4walks and 9strikeouts. Nate Hedricks came in to get the final our and earn the save. Hendricks also had an RBI double in the win. Teag Stevenson went 6×10 in the tournament with 3RBI’s while Grayson Steen went 5×10 with a pair of doubles in the tournament. New Lisbon’s Grady Barfnecht went 4×11 over the weekend. Tomah 16U improves to 4-1 on their season.

Scenic Bluffs Looking for New Conference Commissioner
The Scenic Bluffs Conference is accepting applications for a motivated individual who is passionate about High School athletics to serve as its next Conference Commissioner. The Scenic Bluffs Conference includes the following school Districts:
Bangor Brookwood Cashton Hillsboro Necedah New Lisbon Royall Wonewoc – Union Center
To serve as Conference Commissioner, the individual should have a background in high school athletics and coaching, as well as reside in the geographic area that is in proximity to our member school districts. It is in the benefit of our student athletes and our member schools for the individual who serves in this role to attend athletic events throughout the school year in multiple districts to familiarize themself with the coaches, students, parents, and staff members of the schools they will be serving.
This is not a full-time position, but rather more of a part-time position. The salary range for this position will fall within the $10,000 – $15,000 pay range, depending on the experience of the selected individual. Below is a list of duties from the conference constitution:
Have a working knowledge of the conference constitution and defend its integrity.
Attend to all necessary conference correspondence.
Serve on all athletic committees.
Keep minutes at the annual meeting and additional meetings as requested.
Account for all monies collected and paid out of conference funds.
Invoice member schools for any financial obligations due to the conference.
Compile athletic schedules in a timely manner (two years in advance of their implementation).
Contract for game officials in football, volleyball, boys and girls varsity basketball, and wrestling. (Started in 2000-01). (An evaluation of the procedure will take place at the annual meeting of the conference in the spring of every year.
Be a clearing house for all-conference selections.
Purchase all trophies and medals for the conference.
Perform other duties as assigned by the conference president that are within the scope of the commissioner’s office.
Is accountable to the principal’s organization.
