Bell, Alan J. Age 81 of Kendall
Alan J. Bell, 81 of Kendall, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held on December 4, 2025, 11:00 AM at Evangelical Free Church, 104 E. Hall Street, Kendall. Thomas Rowan will officiate. Burial will be in the Glendale Cemetery with military honors by the William J. Schriver American Legion Post #309.
Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Thursday, December 4 at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The Sonnenburg/Smith-Nelson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences can be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com
Roen, Leonard Edwin Age 75 of Arkdale
Leonard Edwin Roen 75 of Arkdale, WI passed away on 11/11/2025 at his home. Len was born on 7/1/1950 in Superior, WI, the son of Otto and Ruth Roen. He graduated from Northwestern High School in Maple, WI. After graduation he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Vietnam for 1 year. He worked at Edward’s Air Force Base, Kern County, CA, as an air traffic controller, and at the Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, CA. Retiring and returning to Wisconsin after 32 years of combined Military and Federal Civilian service. Len was a proud veteran and an avid Packer fan.
Len is survived by two daughters Becky (Dave) Jordan, and Katie (Patrick) Creelman, 5 grandchildren (Alyssa, Abigail, Emma, Rachel and Asher), and 2 great grandchildren (Amelia and Liam). Sisters Ginny (Ernie) Strum, Diane (Harold) Olson, Pam Turman, brother Peter (Renee) Roen, sister-in-law Sue Roen and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bobby, Richard, Roy, and Bruce.
Visitation, with Military Honors, will be held at the Hawthorne Town Hall, 7223 Town Hall Rd, Hawthorne, WI 54842, on Saturday Dec. 6 th from 1-3-pm. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Hawthorne, WI will be held at a later date.

St. Joseph’s Memorial Foundation’s holiday bake sale and craft fair returns!
St. Joseph’s Memorial Foundation is pleased to announce its annual holiday bake and craft sale, taking place on Friday, December 5, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the community rooms at Emplify Health by Gundersen Hillsboro Hospital.
The event will feature a wide selection of homemade baked goods, including cookies, candies, and other seasonal treats. In addition, handcrafted items such as soaps and jewelry created by Emplify Health staff will be available for purchase.
Proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the St. Joseph’s Memorial Foundation, which supports vital purchases and programs at Emplify Health by Gundersen Hillsboro.
The sale will begin promptly at 8 a.m., and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure the best selection. Customers are asked to bring their own containers for purchased items.
We invite the community to join us in celebrating the holiday season while supporting a meaningful cause.

Pittsville Dumps New Lisbon Girls in Basketball
New Lisbon fell to Pittsville in girls basketball on Friday 62-38. New Lisbon went on a 7-0 stretch late in the first half to cut a 29-17 deficit to 29-24 but it was all Pittsville from there as they went on an 18-0 run to put the game away. Karey Edgerton & Keira Wilkinson each had 11 to lead the Rockets who fall to 0-2 on their season. Addison Elsasser led the Panthers with 11points. Pittsville is now 1-0 on their season.
Mauston Cuts Through Papermakers in Girls Basketball
Mauston Lady Eagles took the show on the road for the first time in the 25-26 season and let some of the anger from the season opening loss out
on the Nekoosa Papermakers Friday night. They came out running and fired up putting up 61 points in the first half while holding Nekoosa to 12 points.
When it was all said and done the final score was 90-31. Mauston had 9 0f their 10 girls in the scoring column before the final horn with Bre Heller leading all scorers
with 27 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 6 steals and 6 assists. Caitlin Lavold followed closely behind putting up a career high 24 points, 3 rebounds and steals and 4 assists.
Ella Franek contributed 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Overall Mauston had 27 steals as a team.
They will get back at it next week as they host a newcomer to the South Central conference the Berlin Indians, who will be traveling to Mauston on Tuesday evening.

Free Throw Woes Dont Cost Royall Girls in Season Opener
The Royall Panther girls basketball team held on to defeat Viroqua 51-41 in their season opener Thursday night. Royall took a 40-22 lead late in the game but Viroqua chipped away to cut the deficit to just 6 but Royall made just enough free throws down the stretch to win the game. Bria Gruen had a big game for the Panthers with 19points while Elizabeth Klipstein added 8. Ali Chestelson and Olivia Willis each had 10points off the bench for Viroqua. Royall won the game despite missing 20 free throws Royall improves to 1-0 on their season and will not play again until December.

Mauston Rally Comes up Short vs Sparta in GBB Opener
The Mauston Golden Eagles girls basketball team came up short in their rally attempt falling to Sparta 58-56 in each team’s season opener. Mauston fell behind 56-43 with only a few minutes left in the game. Mauston went on a 13-2 run to and the game and had a chance to tie it but Bre Heller’s midrange jumper in the lane fell off the rim and Sparta gathered the rebound as time expired. Heller led the Golden Eagles with 18points while Catie Lavold had 16points. Lavold scored 14points in the 2nd half. Sparta was led by Elexa Jones who finished with 14points. Mauston falls to 0-1 and will travel to Nekoosa to open up South Central Conference play on Friday.
