General Field Laborer

 Learn hands on training and assist the EOs (Equipment Operator) in the day to day operations in underground placement of fiber optic cables and conduit, pedestal placement, cable splicing and the operation of light equipment and machinery.  Additionally, you will use various hand tools while performing maintenance and/or construction activities, unloading and loading equipment, digging holes and locating existing utilities, preparing cable routes, feeding cable, securing the job site, placing signs where directed and completing various other tasks as assigned by the Operator(s) and Foreman. General Field Laborers are undergoing “on the job” training to learn how to operate equipment, read prints and to understand all phases of utility construction while performing manual labor on the job site.


  • Work around located utilities
  • Expose existing utilities by hand-digging
  • Prepare cable route
  • Transport Heavy Equipment
  • Feed cable
  • Compact trench lines
  • Train on equipment operation and print reading


  • Must have a valid and insurance acceptable driver’s license – Class A CDL a plus
  • Must have the ability to perform hard physical labor
  • Ability to communicate with Team Members

Work is performed outside in most weather conditions and is performed at the customer’s job-site in communities throughout WI, IA, MN, and MI (weekly and overnight travel is required).
