Mauston Wrestling Claims SCC Championship

The Mauston Golden Eagles Wrestling team claimed an outright South Central Conference Championship Thursday night defeating Adams-Friendship 57-22.  Mauston would fall later in the night in a non-conference dual to Auburndale who is a top 10 ranked team in division 3. Jaren Hansen had victories in both duals for the Golden Eagles.  Mauston will wrestle in the South Central Conference tournament on Saturday January 7th.  A meet you can listen to live on NOW92oneFM and WRJC.com.

Mauston Girls Bury Berlin on Eastern Road Trip

Mauston traveled to Berlin Tuesday night for a conference match up against the Indians. The Golden Eagles came away with a 68-47 win.

Mauston was led by Crimson Hansen who quietly notched a double double as she put up 25 points to go along with her 12 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 each in the steal and assists columns.

Bre Heller knocked down 18 points grabbing 8 boards and having 5 assists. Caitlin Lavold spent a lot of the first half on the bench with foul trouble but still managed to hit double figures as she had 12 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block. Ella Franek didn’t quite get to the double digits in scoring as she came up one basket short with 8 points but she did have double fives with 5 rebounds and 5 steals along with 7 assists and a block.

Next up for the Golden Eagles is another away game as they will travel to Wisconsin Dells to take on the Lady Chiefs Friday night.

Hot 1st Half Shooting Lifts Royall Boys Past Mauston

The Royall Panther boys basketball team used hot shooting to push by Mauston 63-48 Monday night.  Royall knocked down 14 three pointers in the game, 10 of them came in a burning hot first half for the Panthers.  Trey Wildes knocked down five threes in this game on his way to a game high 20points.  Braxton Board finished with 19points for Royall who improves to 12-2 on their season.  Mauston was led by Jase Navis who finished with 16points while Andrew Dillin added 10points.  Mauston drops to 10-4 on it season.

Mauston Girls Bury G-E-T

The Mauston Lady Eagles took on the G.E.T. Red Hawks Tuesday night in a non conference match up with Mauston coming out on top by a score of 85 to 36.

The Eagles had two girls score 18 points each with Bre Heller and Caitlin Lavold both hitting that mark. Heller had 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 5 blocks, while Lavold had, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Mauston had 4 girls in double figures as Ella Franek threw down 11 points grabbed 4 boards, 3 steals and had 2 assists, Crimson Hansen knocked down 10 points grabbed 6 boards, 5 steals, 2 blocks and 6 assists. Narrowly missing the double digit mark Jordin bates had 9 points, 2 rebounds and assists and a steal.

The Eagles will be back on the home court this week playing another conference game against Nekoosa. Hope to see you all the there.

Mauston Girls Get Big Win Over Adams-Friendship

Mauston traveled to Adams Friendship for a Conference game Thursday night to play a pretty good Green Devils team. Playing the second game of three games this Mauston came in with spunk and attitude and full force as Senior Caitlin Lavold returned after missing the Monday night match up due to an ankle injury. Caitlin led Mauston in the points column with 13 and backed that up with 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Ella Franek brought her hop as she pulled down 14 rebounds to go along with 10 points for another double double, Jordin Bates also had 10 points and 2 rebounds and Freshman Crimson Hansen narrowly missed her double double as she put up 9 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. When the smoke had cleared Mauston left the gym with a 53-40 win in a really nice team victory. The JV girls improved to a 9-1 record as they also brought home a victory outscoring the Green Devils by a score of 45-30.

Mauston/Necedah Wrestling Stays Perfect on Season

The Mauston Golden Eagles Wrestling team remained perfect on their season downing Nekoosa/Port Edwards 48-34 and Ithaca/Weston 46-29 Thursday night. Jaren Hansen had a big night for Mauston winning both his matches in dominating fashion.  Owen Lubinski and Brayden Jilbert also had a pair of victories in contested matches for Mauston/Necedah. Mauston girls also had a strong showing in their matches winning more then they lost. Maddy Gosda, Alayna Diorio-Braun, Cammie Slater, and Gabrielle Dicosola all had pins for Mauston.

Hellers & Hansens Big Night Leads Lady Golden Eagles by Tigers

Bre Heller and Crimson Hansen both had nights to remember for the Mauston Golden Eagles in an 89-72 victory over Hillsboro Thursday night.  Heller had 22points in the victory and surpassed the 1,000point career milestone knocking down a 3pointer in the first half that was celebrated by family & fans alike. Heller discusses her milestone. Crimson Hansen also had a big game for the Golden Eagles scoring a game high 28points.  Mauston led by as many as 24points in the game but Hillsboro would never completely go away thanks to a big scoring output from Aliana Clark (20points) Emma McGraw (19points) and Michelle Hora (19points).  Mauston improves to 9-3 on their season and will travel to Adams-Friendship Thursday night.  Hillsboro falls to 7-6 on their season.

Mauston Erases Early Deficit to Ground Thunderbirds in Girls Basketball

Tuesday January 6th, 2026 was the battle of the birds as the Lady Eagles flew to Baraboo to battle the Thunderbirds, Mauston came out a little too fired up and had to sit some girls due to early foul trouble, but that didn’t stop them as the bench players came in and played very well and even down by 9 at one stage of the first half Mauston rallied to lead by 6  at half time. Coming out strong in the second half they never looked back and soared to a 69-55 win. The lady Eagles again had 4 girls in double digits with Caitlin Lavold leading the way with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 each in the Steal and block columns. She was followed closely by Bre Heller with 16 points, 6 boards, 4 steals, 2 assists and a blocked shot. The freshman guards combined for 24 points with Crimson Hansen getting 14 of those while grabbing a team high 8 rebounds to go with her 5 assists, 4 steals and Jordin Bates hitting 10 points with 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Heller and Bates were unfortunately confined to the bench more than they would have liked but that is not all bad as it gave them some time to rest up before their next game Friday night as they head to Westfield for a conference match up against the Pioneers. The JV lady Eagles played a 5 quarter game as they went into overtime and came away with a 44-37 victory, Congratulations Ladies!!

Mauston Girls Open Up 2026 With Blowout Victory Over Tomah

The Mauston Girls Varsity rang in 2026 with a Happy New Year on Friday night as they played the Tomah Timberwolves.

The final score was 66-26 with the Lady eagles having 4 players in double figures and three of those with double doubles.

Bre Heller lead all scorers with 18 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots. The other double doubles came from Caitlin Lavold who had 15 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal, while Crimson Hansen had 10 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal and rounding out the double digit scoring Ella Franek put up 10 points to go along with her 6 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal.

Mauston played a really nice all around team game coming off the break, next up is the first away game of the new year as they travel to Baraboo on Tuesday the 6th to take on the Thunderbirds.

Mauston Clobbers Richland Center Behind Big Game From Ella Franek

Tuesday the cold weather left the area and with the warmer temperatures came a hot night of shooting for senior forward Ella Franek as she scored a career high 25 points leading all scorers in a 72-26 non-conference win over the visiting Richland Center Hornets.

Ella also had 3 steals, 4 assists and narrowly missed a double double grabbing 9 rebounds.

Caitlin Lavold and Breanna Heller also had double digit scoring nights with Caitlin putting up 17 points snagging 2 steals and 6 rebounds to go with her 5 assists while Breanna scored 15 points had 4 steals, 6 assists and 9 rebounds of her own.

The ladies go from Hornets to Tigers as they now prepare for a conference game Friday night at home against the Ripon lady Tigers. Hope to see you all in the gym Friday night.
