Big Innings Lead Brookwood Past Hillsboro in SBC Softball
The Brookwood Falcons softball team out slugged the Hillsboro Tigers 13-7 Thursday evening. Brookwood scored 3 runs in 4 different innings in the victory. Emily Cunitz went 1×2 with a homerun for the Falcons, Willow Pasch went 3×4 with 3 RBI’s while Sophie Hyatt, and Bethany Baker each drove in a pair of runs for Brookwood. Mallory Wallace picked up the victory inside the circle for Brookwood who improves to 2-1 on their season and 1-1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference. Hillsboro was led by Carmen Erickson who went 2×4 with 3RBIs while Michelle Hora went 3×3 in the loss. Hillsboro drops to 2-2 and 0-1 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.
Royall Struggles in Baseball Loss to Pittsville
The Royall Panthers lost their 2nd straight game to open up their season falling 11-3 to #3 Pittsville in baseball action Friday night. Royall took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double by Garrett Dragon but it was all Pittsville from there. Pittsville scored 4 runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings to pull away. Cole Eberhardt also had an RBI double for the Panthers in the loss. Pittsville’s Dawson Luther picked up the complete game victory while Seth Brandau took the loss.
Wang’s Strong Game Lifts Brookwood over Mauston in Baseball Opener
The Brookwood Falcons used a strong 2nd inning to push by Mauston in non-conference baseball action Thursday evening by a final score of 7-2. Brookwood scored 4 runs in the 2nd to seize control of the game. Doug Wildes walked with the bases loaded to drive in the first run of the game that was followed up by a two run single by Owen Wang and an RBI single from Julian Cunitz. Julian Cunitz went 2×3 with a triple in the game. Wang went 2×4 and also pitched 4 perfect innings to pick up the victory on the mound. Braeden Pasch came in and picked up the 3 inning save for the Falcons. Tyler Link and Evan Freimuth each went 1×3 with an RBI for Mauston. Tyler Link took the loss on the mound for Mauston. Mauston drops to 0-1 and will host La Crosse Logan on Tuesday a game that can be heard on SmashCountry92.9FM and WRJC.com.
Big First Inning Lifts Hillsboro Softball By Mauston
The Hillsboro Tigers used a 14 run first inning to breeze by Mauston 19-4 in 3 innings on a frigid Tuesday evening. The 14 run inning included a 2 run homerun to straight away centerfield off the bat of Tiger Senior Kiana Liska. Carmen Erickson went 2×2 with a pair of RBI’s while Gracey Herritz and Tarren Barreau each notched their first varsity hit for Hillsboro. Michelle Hora added a triple at the plate and picked up the victory inside the circle. Hillsboro improves to 1-1 on their season. Riley Bluhm went 1×1 with an RBI for the Golden Eagles who also got a hit from Rylea Mehne. Mauston drops to 0-2 on their season.
Wonewoc-Center Wins Softball Opener vs Mauston
The Wonewoc-Center Wolves Softball team defeated Mauston 17-7 Monday night to win their season opener. Callissa Keller had a big night going 2×3 4RBIs including a triple. Mattison Preuss added an RBI double for the Wolves in the victory. Brooklyn Bolton picked up the victory inside the circle for the Wolves striking out 9batters in 5 innings of work. Khloi Miles went 1×2 with a double and an RBI for Mauston. Wonewoc-Center improves to 1-0 and Mauston falls to 0-1.
Riverdale Defeats Royall Softball
The Royall Panther Softball team fell to Riverdale 6-3 Friday evening managing just one hit. The lone hit came from Kenady Olson who had a bloop double. Ashleigh Klipstein pitched well for the Panthers giving up just 1 earned run on 7 hits over 5 innings. Elaine Olson led Riverdale going 2×3 with an RBI while pitcher Macey McKay pitched 7 strong innings giving up just 1 hits and striking out 10. Royall falls to 0-1 on their season.
Rockets Rally For First Softball Win Since 2023
The New Lisbon Rockets softball team started their season off with a thrilling 19-18 come from behind victory over Loyal/Greenwood. New Lisbon trailed 18-11 going into the final inning but erupted for 8 runs capped off by a walk of single by Olivia Bunker to complete the comeback. Bunker was 4-6 in the game with 3runs and 3 RBIs. Janiah Pfaff went 3-4 with a triple 4runs scored and 2RBIs, while senior Arria Raese went 3-5 with 3RBIs and a double. Raese also picked up the win inside the circle. New Lisbon begins their season 1-0.

Royall Cant Overcome Early Deficit Falls one Game Shy of State
The Royall Panthers boys basketball team had their season come to an end to Cochrane Fountain City 53-41 Saturday in La Crosse. Royall dug themselves and early hole and could never full recover from it. C-FC scored the first 12 points of the game and led 15-2 before Royall went on a 12-0 run to get within 15-14. C-FC had a counterpunch and led by 8 at halftime and extended the lead back to a dozen early in the 2nd half. Royall fought back to tie the game at 39 but CFC scored 14 of the remaining 16 points in the game to win 53-41. Royall finishes their season at 28-1 and one game shy of the state tournament. Carter Uppena led the Panthers with 23points while Landon Lipke added 10. Lipke and Uppenas great careers come to an end alongside fellow seniors Seth Brandau, Ben Crneckiy, Cole Eberhardt, Karter Olson, Owen Dedrick, and Mason Morrisette. All leaving a big impact for Royall basketball.
Royall Survives Post Season Game vs North Crawford
The Royall Panthers survived 1st half foul trouble to prevail over North Crawford 51-48 in a WIAA Sectional semi-final game Thursday night. Already playing without Trey Wildes due to an injury Royall found themselves down 3 starters as Landon Lipke and Ben Crneckiy picked up 2 quick fouls. Carter Uppena picked up his game and kept Royall afloat in the first half leading to the eventual victory. Uppena finished with 22points and held North Crawfords leading scorer Cullen Jacobus to just 7points. Royall never trailed in the game but unlike the first matchup between these two teams was unable to pull away. Landon Lipke added 12points for Royall. Carter Emler led the Trojans with 14points. Royall improves to 28-0 on the season.
