Royall Girls Gets Defensive in Victory Over Rival Falcons

The Royall Panthers girls basketball used strong defense to get by Brookwood 41-28 Tuesday night.  Brookwood got off to an 8-2 lead but Royall answered with a 20-2 run to seize control of the game.  Bria Gruen led the Panthers with 15points while Kayla Rick added 8.  Ruby Muehlenkamp led Brookwood with 15points.  The win improves Royall to 10-1 on their season and 4-1 in the Scenic Bluffs.  Brookwood falls to 8-5 and 3-2 in the Scenic Bluffs Conference.  Royall will travel to Cashton Friday night while Brookwood will take on conference leading Bangor.

Hillsboro Boys Push Past Viroqua

The Hillsboro Tigers boys basketball team held off a feisty Viroqua Blackhawks team Monday night garnering a 56-50 victory.  The game was tied at 22 at halftime.  Hillsboro got a team high 16points from sophomore Braun Jirschele, while Malekai Simpson returned to the lineup to add 12points including some clutch free throws down the stretch.  Miles Ravenscroft added 10points for the Tigers.  Viroqua was led by Freshman Noah Schwarz who had a game high 23points while Kolten Peterson added 18.  Hillsboro improves to 5-4 on their season while Viroqua drops to 3-5.  Hillsboro will host New Lisbon Thursday night.

Royall Girls Hold Off Black River Falls

They Royall Panthers girls basketball team improved to 6-1 on their season after holding off Black River Falls 48-39 Monday night.  Royall nearly blew a 39-22 second half lead as Black River Falls clawed within 42-39 late in the game.  Royall knocked down enough free throws down the stretch for the victory.  Bria Gruen led the Panthers in scoring with 16points.  Freshman Gianna Backaus led the Tigers with a game high 19points nearly leading Black River Falls back.  Royall will play in the Richland Center Holiday tournament coming up this next Monday and Tuesday.

Hillsboro Fights in Opening Half Before Onalaska Girls Seizes Control

The Hillsboro Tigers Girls basketball team out played a much bigger school in Onalaska for the first 18minutes of their non-conference game playing even with Onalaska to a 12-12 halftime tie.  The 2nd half was controlled by the Hilltoppers however on their way to a 55-23 victory over the Tigers.  Hillsboro jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the opening half thanks to 10 early points from Senior Lauren Woirol.  Onalaska came back and tied the game on a last second three pointer by Finley Walters to close out the opening half.  Onalaska would cruise in the 2nd half for the victory.  Finley Walters led the Hilltoppers with 14points while Kayla Ketelhut added 12.  Woirols 10points led the Tigers.  Onalaska improves to 5-2 Hillsboro drops to 3-4.

Royall Boys Basketball Improves to 2-0 with Win Over Pittsville

The Royall Panthers Boys basketball moved to 2-0 after thumping Pittsville 64-39 Tuesday night.  Dylan Velazquez had the hot hand for the Panthers scoring a team high 19points while knocking down 5 three point buckets.  Freshman Bentley Rozek had 12points while Sophomore Braxton Board added 11.  Royall struggled in the first half leading just 30-24 for a renewed defensive effort and Velazquez’s hot shooting allowed Royall to pull away in the 2nd half. Dawson Luther led Pittsville with a game high 22points but was held to just five 2nd half points.  Royall will host Seneca Thursday night a game you can hear on NOW92oneFM and WRJC.com. 

Rockets Boys Basketball Wins by a Hare in Blowout Over Weston

The New Lisbon Rockets boys basketball team led wire to wire in a 70-47 victory over Weston Monday night.  New Lisbon led 38-21 at the halftime break, thanks to the hot shooting of Sophomore Ayden Hare.  Hare finished with 19points in the game a varsity career high.  Hare had 15 of his points in the first half all from down town.  Sehraj Grewal and Carter Pfaff each had 9points for the Rockets.  Isaac Jennings had a game high 20points to lead Weston.  New Lisbon improved to 2-0 on the season while Weston drops to 0-2. 

Pittsville Dumps New Lisbon Girls in Basketball

New Lisbon fell to Pittsville in girls basketball on Friday 62-38.  New Lisbon went on a 7-0 stretch late in the first half to cut a 29-17 deficit to 29-24 but it was all Pittsville from there as they went on an 18-0 run to put the game away.  Karey Edgerton & Keira Wilkinson each had 11 to lead the Rockets who fall to 0-2 on their season.  Addison Elsasser led the Panthers with 11points.  Pittsville is now 1-0 on their season. 

Free Throw Woes Dont Cost Royall Girls in Season Opener

The Royall Panther girls basketball team held on to defeat Viroqua 51-41 in their season opener Thursday night.  Royall took a 40-22 lead late in the game but Viroqua chipped away to cut the deficit to just 6 but Royall made just enough free throws down the stretch to win the game.  Bria Gruen had a big game for the Panthers with 19points while Elizabeth Klipstein added 8.  Ali Chestelson and Olivia Willis each had 10points off the bench for Viroqua. Royall won the game despite missing 20 free throws Royall improves to 1-0 on their season and will not play again until December.
