Tomah/SBC 16U American Legion Baseball Team Comes up Short in 3rd State bid
The Tomah/SBC 16U American Legion baseball team will not defend their 2024 State Championship. They gave it a good run in the West Salem regional going 3-2 with wins over West Salem 2-1, La Crosse A’s 8-5 and Sparta 10-0, Tomah lost to Onalaska 1-0 in their 2nd round matchup before falling to the La Crosse Juniors 8-2 in the semi-final round of the double elimination tournament. New Lisbon’s Grady Barfknect had a strong tournament batting .308 at the plate with a pair of runs scored. Barknecht also threw out numerous baserunners from behind home plate and pitched 3 scoreless innings earning the victory on the mound in their win over the La Crosse A’s. Brookwoods Brennan Mack led Tomah during the tournament with a .455 batting average and also had a team leading 4RBI’s and picked up a win on the mound during the tournament. It was a strong run for a team comprised of Tomah/New Lisbon/Brookwood/and Blair-Taylor kids.
