Tomah/Scenic Bluffs Baseball Team Advances to 16U State Championship Game

The Tomah American Legion 16U baseball team featuring kids from the Scenic Bluffs Conference will play for a state championship on Tuesday after defeating Loyal 11-3 Sunday night.  Tomah is the lone undefeated team in the tournament and will face St. Mary’s Springs tonight.  Tomah trailed 3-1 after 2 innings but would score 10 unanswered run over the next 3 innings to seize control of the game.  Brookwood’s Julian Cunitz had 3 hits and drove in a pair of runs including a squeeze bunt RBI in Tomah’s big 6 run 6th inning.  Owen Laudon and Nate Henricks each went 3×4 to help lead the offensive output.  Brookwood’s Owen Wang picked up the victory on the mound pitching 6 strong innings to earn the victory.  Wang did not give up a run after the first inning and struck out 8 batters.  The championship game will be played Tuesday night against Loyal, St. Marys Springs or the Cinderella of the tournament the hosts Baraboo.         

Tomah/SBC 19U Baseball Team Falls in Regional Opener

The Tomah 19U American Legion baseball Team fell 1-0 to Middleton in a AAA Regional opening round game.  TJ Shramek pitched 6 innings giving up just 2 hits and 1 unearned run taking the loss.  Aiden Klema had the lone hit for Tomah in the loss. Tomah is still alive in the double elimination tournament but must defeat Holmen who lost 5-4 to La Crosse Post 52 the games other Regional opener.  Holmen is the host of the Tournament.    

Tomah/SBC Legion Baseball Wins in Cazenovia

The Tomah American Legion baseball team took down Cazenovia 12-4 Sunday afternoon in a nine inning game.  Tomah used 3 pitchers to pick up the victory. TJ Shramek started the game giving up nothing on 2 infield hits 1 walk and 9 strikeouts.  Jackson Steffel came in and pitched 3 perfect innings striking out 5 to earn the win on the mound and Tucker Frandsen finished the game for the Tomah Senior Legion team.  Tucker Frandsen went 4×6 with 2 RBI’s while Brett Fleitner went 3×5 with 2RBI’s.  Gunnar Wopat, TJ Shramek, and Kole Trap all had 2 hits apiece for the Tomah Legion team.  Isaac Jennings and Trevor Westfphal each had 3 hits for Cazenovia.  Tomah picked up their 3rd win of the week to improve to 4-9 on their season.  Tomah fell 5-4 to Whitehall on Friday night. 

Royall Splits 2 Games in Woodside Baseball League

The Royall summer baseball team split a pair of hard fought games Tuesday night out at the Summer Woodside League.  Royall dropped the first game 4-2 to Ithaca.  Trey Wildes went 1×4 with an RBI triple and Tyrus Wildes went 1×2 with an RBI.  Sammy Clary picked up the complete game victory for Ithaca.  Cody Byrnes had a 2 run double in the third to help propel Ithaca. Royall bounced back winning vs Wisconsin Dells Legion Post 187 2-1.  Cole Eberhardt picked up the complete game victory for Royall giving up just one run on 4 hits walking 2 and striking out 4.  Eberhardt also went 2×2 with and RBI at the plate.  Tyrus Wildes went 1×2 with a triple and Colby Schroeder had the winning RBI for Royall.  Royall is now 2-3 on their Woodside League schedule.  Wisconsin Dells got an inside the park homerun from Curtis Griefenhagen for their lone run.    

Tomah Blanks Gays Mills in Legion Baseball Pitchers Duel

The Tomah/Scenic Bluffs American Legion Baseball 19U team defeated Gays Mills in a pitchers duel 1-0 Monday night.  4 Tomah pitchers combined to 3 hit Gays Mills.  Royall’s Gunnar Wopat got the start and pitched 2 2/3 hitless innings striking out 6.  Owen Laudon pitched the next 3 innings and gave up just 2 hits while striking out 4.  Landon Ewing and Tucker Frandsen pitched the final 1 1/3 innings giving up nothing on a hit while combining to strike out 3 batters.  Ewing earned the hold while Frandsen picked up the save.  Tomah’s lone run came on a passed ball that allowed Wopat to score in the 5th inning. Kole Trap went 2×3 with a double for Tomah at the plate. Jack Payne took the tough luck loss for Gays Mills pitching 4 1/3 innings giving up just 1 unearned run on 3hits. 

Registration is currently underway for July & August volleyball camps in Reedsburg this summer.

RAYV Volleyball Camp – Tuesday, July 23 & Wednesday, July 24 at Prairie Ridge Intermediate School. Times for camp will vary depending on grade level. Grades 9-12 will meet from 8:30-10:30, grades 6-8 from 11:00-1:00, and grades 3-5 from 1:30-3:30. Forms can be found on the RAYV website.

 

High School Camp – Monday, August 5 – Thursday, August 8 at Prairie Ridge Intermediate School from 8:30-11:30 for grades 9-12. Forms have been distributed, but are also available on the RAHS volleyball website. Registration is due Friday, July 12th.

Mauston’s Massey Plays in All-Star Basketball Game

Mauston’s Brock Massey wrapped up his prep basketball career Thursday afternoon by playing in the Division 3 WBCA Basketball All-Star Game.  Brock did not score in the game but dished out some dazzling assists.  His team fell to the black team 144-114.  Carson Armstrong of Wautoma had 12points while Joseph Ascher from Wautoma scored 5points. The high scorer for the black team was Dominican High Schools Jaiden Martin with 28points.  G-E-T’s Cody Schmitz led the white team with 16points.    

Mauston Wins 2 at Monday Woodside Baseball League

The Mauston Summer baseball team stayed undefeated in the Monday Woodside League with a pair of victories Monday night.  Mauston opened the night with an 8-6 victory over Nekoosa.  Mauston fell behind early 3-0 but took the lead in the 5th on an RBI single by Eli Rader.  Mauston would add some much needed insurance in the 6th inning capped off by an RBI double from Evan Freimuth.  Tyler Link had a triple and was the winning pitcher on the mound for Mauston.  Mauston would later win a pitchers dual over Madison East 1-0 to move to 4-0 on their Monday Woodside League Schedule. 

Dells Clobbers Royall in Woodside League Baseball Opener

The Wisconsin Dells American Legion Post 187 baseball team defeated Royall 10-0 to kick off the summer Woodside League schedule.  The Dells jumped on top with a big 4 run first inning.  Ethan Pope went 2×2 with a pair of RBIs for the Dells.  Nolan Pope went 2×4 with 2runs scored.  Carter Syverson picked up the win pitching 6 scoreless innings scattering 5 hits while striking out 7 and walking none.  Cole Eberhardt went 2×3 for Royall while Trey Wildes went 1×3 with a double.  Royall drops to 0-1 in Woodside League action. 

Cunitz Big Weekend Leads Tomah 16U Legion to Wilton Tournament Championship

The Tomah 16U American Legion baseball team won the Wilton 16U Tournament finishing with a 3-1 record. Tomah tied both Adams-Friendship and G-E-T with matching 3-1 records but won the tiebreaker with the most runs scored in the tournament.  Tomah opened up with a 9-0 victory over Adams-Friendship Friday night. Jackson Steffel went 2×2 with a homerun and 5 RBI’s in the victory.  Saturday morning Tomah fell to G-E-T 4-2, Tomah would bounce back to defeat Black River Falls 12-5 in the nightcap.  Tomah finished out the tournament with a 9-8 come from behind victory over Chippewa Falls.  Brookwood’s Jackson Cunitz went 9×11 with 5 doubles and 8 RBI’s in the tournament and was named the tournament MVP.
