DICKEYVILLE, Wis. (AP) – A village in Grant County is the only Wisconsin community saluted by federal officials for its strong response to the U.S. census.
The Census Bureau says 77 percent of 1,000 residents in Dickeyville have already mailed in their forms, placing them among 50 communities nationwide with that kind of response rate or better.
Wisconsin, as a whole, has a rate of 54 percent participation.  That puts Wisconsin in the top five states.  Wisconsin Public Radio reports that nationally, 46 percent of forms have been returned. The deadline is April 1.
