TICKET SCALPING-BREWERS Brewers pitch bill to catch ticket scalpers
MADISON, Wis. (AP) – The Milwaukee Brewers baseball club is lobbying lawmakers to pass a bill that would make it easier for the team to prosecute ticket scalpers who bother fans outside Miller Park. The proposal being circulated by Sen. Jim Sullivan and Rep. Josh Zepnick would give sports teams the option of creating and enforcing ticket resale zones outside their stadiums. Violators who sell outside the zones could be ticketed for trespassing and permanently banned after a second offense. The Brewers already have a designated zone for ticket resellers, but have been unable to prosecute scalpers who sell outside it because of confusion under current law. The team says scalpers are using increasingly aggressive tactics, such as pestering families as they enter the stadium.
