The Mauston varsity football team remains scoreless at home as Richland Center shut-out the Golden Eagles 33-0 Friday night. Both teams came into the match-up winless on the season, but the Hornets were able to get four touchdowns from their senior running back, Kory Stevens, and another from junior running back John Hassell late in the fourth quarter, to pick up their first win. Stevens had three big touchdowns on the ground with runs of 57, 36, and 47-yards. He added an 11-yard touchdown reception to his night late in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles had a few opportunities to put points on the board throughout the game, but penalties, turnovers and miscues prevented them from getting into the endzone. After being shut-out by Onalaska, 42-0, in their home opener, Mauston has yet to put points on the board in front of their home crowd. The Golden Eagles will continue searching for their first win of the season as they go back on the road next week at Wautoma. South Central Conference play begins next week, and the Hornets will be bringing a 3-1 record into the game.
