Monday morning the Mauston girls tennis team travelled to Reedsburg for a triangular, along with the Spartans of Sparta.  First, the Golden Eagles went down with a hard fought battle to Reedsburg 6 matches to 1.  Two standouts were Alyssa Meija-Crowe and Mary Jane Nate. Alyssa won her first set 6-love, dropped the second set 7-6, and the third set was a ten point super tie breaker that Kim Schwartzenbarf won 10-8.  Mary Jane Nate continued her winning ways with an impressive 7-5, 6-love match over junior Jackie Anderson.  Mauston was hot and tired coming off the loss to Reedsburg but that did not stop them from fighting hard against the Spartans. The Golden Eagles were tenacious in both singles and doubles.  Carissa Huebner continued to improve her winning record with a score of 6-2, 6-1 and Mary Jane Nate defeated Leah Lodahl 6-1, 6-1.  The third doubles team of Ashlee Nelson and Allison Bauer won their first set easily 6-1, but struggled to win their second set 7-6. Lastly, sisters, Pakou and Chamee Vang won their first set 6-2, then dropped the second set 6-4, but fought back to force a super tie breaker and the Golden Eagles prevailed 10-6.  The Golden Eagles took the match from the formidable Spartans, 4 matches to 3.  Today, the Golden Eagles host the Black River Falls Tigers for their conference home opener.  Mauston girls tennis is sporting a record of 4 wins and 2 losses.
