Platteville stays undefeated with win over Mauston: 47-14
The Mauston Golden Eagles varsity football team continued their non-conference schedule with a loss at Platteville Friday night. The Hillmen hosted the Golden Eagles at the UW-Platteville football stadium, where Mauston got to experience playing in a college stadium atmosphere.
Platteville proved to be much bigger and faster as they had their way with the Golden Eagles in the first half. The Hillmen scored three touchdowns in the first quarter, and three more in the second, to take a 40-0 lead into halftime. Platteville would add one more touchdown later on in the fourth quarter. Six different players scored for Platteville in the game with most of their bench getting some playing time.
The Golden Eagles did get their offense moving a few different times in the second half with senior Kyle Jirousek scoring both touchdowns on the ground, including one from about 40-yards out. The first touchdown for Mauston was set up by a 68-yard run by senior JD Lierman.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-3 on the season while Platteville remains undefeated at 3-0. Mauston will be back at home next Friday night for their 5th annual J.J.J.A.M. Game against Richland Center to wrap up their non-conference schedule. The tailgate meal will start at 5 p.m. with all proceeds going towards the memorial scholarships.
