Nelson a playmaking rock for banged-up Packers
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – Jordy Nelson keeps making plays while injuries riddle the Packers. The receiver is doing his best to help keep the offense moving with quarterback Aaron Rodgers sidelined by a collarbone injury. Nelson is seventh in the league with 889 yards receiving on 57 catches. He remains productive with former third-stringer Scott Tolzien replacing Rodgers, hauling in eight passes for 117 yards against the Giants on Sunday. Defenses of late are concentrating more on stopping running back Eddie Lacy. That leaves more opportunities for Nelson against single coverage. He’s also hoping the Packers can take advantage of play-action passes, as they did against New York. Coach Mike McCarthy says Nelson has grown as a leader on and off the field. The Packers play the Vikings on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
