The Golden Eagles girls’ tennis team traveled to Wisconsin Rapids to take on the Assumption Royals Tuesday night to wrap up their regular season. At #2 singles, Mary Jane Nate took the first set 6-3, but then dropped the second set 5-7. She went on to win in another super tiebreaker with a score of 10-4. At #3 singles, Carissa Huebner played some of her best tennis of the season. She won the first set 7-6 in a tiebreaker, and then handled her opponent with a 6-2 second set victory. The Lady Eagles also got a win at #1 doubles with Emily Erickson and Alyssa Meija-Crowe (6-2, 6-4).  The two seniors began their tennis careers at the Rapids with a win as freshman, and ended their four years of tennis at the Rapids with a win. At #1 singles, Chamee Vang showed great potential at the number one spot, but fell 4-6, 1-6. At #4 singles, Jenna Reed had her match cut short due to lack of daylight. After splitting the first two sets, she was in a super tiebreaker when the match was called. Monday, October 3rd, the Golden Eagles will travel to Watertown for sub-sectional play, with the winners advancing to play at Whitewater in the sectional finals on Wednesday.
