The Mauston girls’ tennis season got into full swing this last week, and after four matches, they have two wins and two losses. The girls beat both Viroqua and Wisconsin Dells, six matches to one; but lost two close contests with Holmen and Columbus, four to three. “We are just a few missed balls away from being 4-0,” said head coach Laura Taake. “An early season standout is Kristin Grzenia who is undefeated in all four matches; she has been unflappable, so far! The team is blessed with a full varsity and JV squad; with twenty girls all vying for the best positions. Team practices have been very competitive, and that competitive spirit is what will be our biggest asset this season as the roster becomes firm with the best girls playing at their best spot.” This next week, the girls will go up against Reedsburg, Sparta, Onalaska Luther and Black River Falls in another full week of tennis.
