Thursday evening, the Golden Eagles ladies tennis team hosted West Salem and defeated the Panthers four matches to three. The four wins came from #2 singles Mary Jane Nate (6-3, 6-4), #3 singles Carissa Huebner (6-1, 6-2), #3 doubles Ashlee Nelson and Allison Bauer (5-7, 6-2, 6-3), and the defining match came from #4 singles Alyssa Meija-Crowe (6-1, 6-3). “I was hoping for a bigger spread in the victory margin, but a win is a win,” said Coach Laura Taake. “I am pleased with the amount of improvement I have seen since the first few days of practice in all 16 girls on the roster this season.” The team travels to Onalaska Luther on Monday to take on the undefeated Knights, and Tuesday the girls travel to Viroqua.
