Mauston girls’ tennis comes up short against Holmen
The Mauston Golden Eagles girls’ tennis team travelled to Holmen on Friday, and came home one match short for a team victory. The three doubles teams all won, taking all the sets to win their matches. Veronica Saylor and Kirstin Grzenia won in a very close match going into tie breaker in the first set winning it 7-5, and taking the second set 6-4. At number two doubles, Jenna Reed and Elizabeth Domke played for almost two hours to get the victory 6-4, 2-6, 7-5. And at number three doubles, Courtney Leak and Morgan Broske won with scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. Our four singles players went down to defeat but they battled with all they had. It was just not quite enough to bring down their opponents. Tuesday the Golden Eagles host Lodi and on Thursday they travel to Wisconsin Rapids to take on Assumption.
