Tuesday night, the Mauston Golden Eagles boys basketball team travelled to Melrose-Mindoro to take on the Mustangs in non-conference action. The Mustangs kept pace with the Golden Eagles until Mauston was finally able to pull away in the fourth quarter by outscoring Melrose-Mindoro 24-15. Sophomore Joel Heesch went over 100 points for the season, as he and senior Brady Nelson led the way for the Golden Eagles with 17 points a piece. Junior Jacob Nordstrom led the Mustangs with 14 points. Melrose-Mindoro fell to 0-2 with the loss , and Mauston stayed unbeaten at 5-0. The Golden Eagles will be on the road again next Tuesday at West Salem, when they take to the hardwood again for some more non-conference action.
