Brewers’ Roenicke embraces ‘win now’ philosophy
PHOENIX (AP) – The most important rookie in the Brewers clubhouse is new manager Ron Roenicke.
The 54-year-old Roenicke is embracing the ‘win now’ expectations of the organization, saying he’s excited for the challenge and has the pieces to make it happen.
After hiring Roenicke, the Brewers traded for 2009 AL Cy Young winner Zack Greinke and Shaun Marcum to add to Milwaukee’s already potent offense after two lackluster seasons under Ken Macha.
Brewers owner Mark Attanasio says he has great hopes for Roenicke and that the new manager has brought his own ideas to his club after 11 years in the Angels’ organization.
Roenicke says the Brewers will be exciting to watch and aggressive in their approach in the competitive NL Central.
