UNDATED (AP) – And then there were none.
Top-ranked Ohio State became the last team in major college
basketball to suffer a loss when No. 13 Wisconsin beat the Buckeyes
71-61 Saturday afternoon.
Wisconsin’s Jordan Taylor scored 21 of his 27 points in the
second half to rally the Badgers from a 15-point deficit to get the
big win. Wisconsin beat a No. 1 opponent for the first time since
1962, when it was also Ohio State. The Badgers joined Florida as
the only programs to knock off the same No. 1 school in both
football and men’s basketball in the same academic year. The
Badgers football team ruined Ohio State’s bid for a perfect season
in football last fall.
William Buford scored 21 points for Ohio State, which fell to
24-1 overall and 11-1 in the Big 10. Freshman Jared Sullinger made
an easy layup to push the Buckeyes’ lead to 47-32 with 13:21 left,
setting the stage for the comeback.
