Mary A Whitteberry

Mary A. Whitteberry, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 10, 2019 in her home in Mauston, Wisconsin.  She was born on March 29, 1934 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Vasel Conner and Forrest Jane (Paxton) Conner.  She married the love her life, John G. Whitteberry, from Lafayette, Indiana on October 11, 1953 and they enjoyed 65 years together.  Mary and John have six children:  Joan (David) Jarvis of Houston, Texas; John Douglas (Carrie) Whitteberry of Dallas, Texas; Deborah (Jim) Wilson of Graham, North Carolina; Timothy (Joao) Whitteberry of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; David Whitteberry of Buena Vista, Georgia; and Sandra (Mark) Kallian of Mauston, Wisconsin.

Mary’s love of life stretched many directions.  First and foremost she loved her Lord, Jesus Christ whom she clung to as her closest friend, having accepted Him as her Savior at age 11 in the Free Methodist Church.

Mary’s sister, Jane Knowles, describes her so well:

Mary was my sweet Sister

Her attributes are so many to tell

A wonderful wife and Mother

Her beautiful ART we know well!

She had a “Spirit of Adventure”

To get out in the open and GO!

She loved to enjoy the Landscape

Or wherever a Trail might go!

Despite a busy Mother of six

She knew how to laugh and play

And though there was work to be done

It could be finished another day.

A devoted and precious CHRISTIAN

We KNOW where she is today…

Enjoying the Beauty of Heaven

Where now, she will forever stay!

But the joy of her greatest achievement

Of work that came from her Soul

Was the precision found in her ART

Each production, a cherished goal!

Bending hours over an Easel

Bringing to life what She could see

A delightful and beautiful treasure

THRILLING to you and me.

We’re thankful for her contribution

She lovingly and tirelessly gave

A lasting memento of her life

Is something we’ll always save!

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Sonny, Denny and David.  She is survived by her husband John, their six children and eight grandchildren, and her sister Jane Knowles and brother Lloyd (Denise) Conner.
