Helen Marie Schwingel, age 81, of Arkdale, Wisconsin died Saturday, November 5 2016. Helen was a hard working independent woman who spent the last years of her life at home with loving caretakers, friends, and family before passing away due complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.   Mr. James Frazier will officiate.  Interment will be at the Blue River Cemetery, Blue River, Wisconsin.

 

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and again on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

 

Helen was born December 26, 1934 in Jackson Township, Adams County, Wisconsin to Jesse John and Alice Edith (Lake) Frazer.  She graduated from Endeavor-Oxford Union Free High School in 1953. Helen moved from the farm to find employment in the big cities of Rockford, IL and Janesville, WI Helen worked at the Chiclets factory and other places in the area. She married Burdean (Burt) Elmer Schwingel on August 10, 1963 in Davis Corners, Wisconsin. They settled in Milton, Wisconsin and Helen continued to work part time and raise their son John until she and Burt retired full time to Arkdale, WI in 1984. Helen later helped raise her grandson, Kyle, until he was old enough to go to school.

 

Family was always the most important thing in Helen’s life, from growing up with five siblings to helping later generations find their way. She enjoyed playing cards or just visiting with family, especially with her two sisters who always made her laugh. Helen also enjoyed nature and the outdoors, including gardening, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, or just walking in the woods at home.

 

Helen was an assembly member of the Gospel Hall in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.  She was strong in her faith and confident that she would see those she loved again someday soon.

 

Memorials may be directed in Helen’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association or other charity of the givers choice.

 

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Alice Frazer; husband, Burdean Elmer Schwingel; brother and sister-in-law, Harley (Carol) Frazer.

 

Helen is survived by her son,  John (Elizabeth) Schwingel of Arkdale, Wisconsin

Step-Daughter: Anita Hook of Mazomanie, Wisconsin.  Sisters: Wilma Frazer of Portage, Wisconsin and  Mary (Ed) Dean of Fort Wayne, IN.  Brothers:  Harvey (Lucy) Frazer of Oxford, Wisconsin , and Robert (Linda) Frazer of Milton, Wisconsin. Grandson: Kyle Schwingel of Madison, Wisconsin and Step-Grandchildren:  Tucker Munsch of Princeton, Wisconsin; Rosa (Tim) Graham of Mazomanie, Wisconsin; Hans (Deb) Norslien of Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin. Step-Great-Grandchildren: Isabelle and Avery Graham of Mazomanie, Wisconsin  Helen is further survived by many special nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
