Wisconsin sheriffs look to expand Internet stings
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) – Investigators in northeast Wisconsin say they are looking at expanding Internet stings after a recent operation nabbed more than a dozen child sex predators. WLUK-TV reports the October sting resulted in 15 arrests in six counties. Jim Valley, of the Door County Sheriff’s Department, says the number of arrests could be seen as a sign of the operation’s success or an indicator that more needs to be done to address the problem. Investigators say the recent sting was the first to include a weekend, and their busiest times were Friday and Saturday nights. Valley says he thinks future stings should run at least seven days. Brown County Sheriff John Gossage says he’s looking at ways to add more officers to the multiagency operation.
