Wis. district to admit more international students
JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) – School board members in Janesville are looking at rules to govern an expanded foreign exchange program that could enroll about 150 students. The goal is to bring in revenue with students who would pay tuition to attend Janesville schools. Most of the students are expected to be Chinese. The Janesville Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/19w8yAS ) the rules being considered by the school board would cover traditional exchange students as well as those in the expanded program. The guidelines are expected to address such things as competition for valedictorian, participation in school activities and eligibility for district scholarships. Students would be required to speak enough English to function at school and have an adult sponsor who lives in the district.
