OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) – More than half of the faculty and professional academic staff at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh are getting raises averaging about $2,600. A memo sent to employees Wednesday says the raises for 369 university employees will cost the state’s third largest university about $962,000. The remaining 319 faculty and staff will get a 1 percent pay increase that’s being given to all state employees. Chancellor Richard Wells tells Oshkosh Northwestern Media (http://oshko.sh/1f5VxlU) that salaries for faculty at his university are 18 percent behind the average salary of comparable peers across the Midwest. Wells says it’s a huge issue in terms of being able to attract and retain talented educators.
