Study: Wis. contract site of ‘limited use’
MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A new report says a website meant to serve
as a public clearinghouse for state contract information has been
hampered by design problems and limited reporting by state
agencies.
The Legislative Audit Bureau’s study concludes the Contract
Sunshine site has been of “limited use” in providing the public
with clear, complete information.
State statutes adopted in 2006 created the site as a place where
the public could see how state agencies spend money. The Government
Accountability Board administers the site.
The board’s director, Kevin Kennedy, wrote in a response to the
audit that the law creating the site was vague and the state has
devoted little money to the site.
