MADISON, Wis. (AP) – It looks like a central Wisconsin state
park will remain closed for at least a few more days as crews clean
up after last week’s storms.
Department of Natural Resources officials say Council Grounds
State Park will remain closed at least through midweek and possibly
longer. They say crews have to remove a number of trees that were
damaged by high winds and are no longer stable. No pedestrian of
vehicle traffic will be allowed in the park.
The popular 500-acre park is located on the Wisconsin River near
Merrill. A tornado moved through that area on April 10.
