MADISON, Wis. (AP) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has given a Green Bay firm a $1.9 million contract to cover a sediment storage site. The corps announced Monday that Peters Concrete Company won the contract to cover Renard Island, a 55-acre island located near the mouth of the Fox River. The island was built in 1979 and used to store dredging sediment through 1996. The contract calls for the company to remove about 250,000 yards of clean sediment from the Bayport Confined Disposal Facility in Green Bay and create a 3-foot cover on the island. Work is slated to be completed by spring 2015.
