SE Wisconsin legislator to call it quits
MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A southeastern Wisconsin legislator says he won’t seek re-election this fall. Rep. Dan LeMahieu, a Republican from Cascade, issued a statement Friday saying he plans to retire from the Legislature at the end of the year. He said he wants to travel more with his wife and spend time with his grandchildren. LeMahieu was first elected to the Assembly in 2002. He has served on the powerful Joint Finance Committee for the last four years. He says in his statement that public service can be a thankless job but he’s grateful to family and friends who have supported him.
