MILWAUKEE (AP) – A new report on Wisconsin school students’ scores on assessment tests show Hispanic students making slight progress to shrink the achievement gap with their white classmates in math and science.  However, the report out Tuesday from the state Department of Public Instruction still showed white and Asian students in better position to succeed in college or the workplace, as measured by “proficient or advanced” scores.   The state report compared scores across all grades on tests in the current school year and four years ago.  Overall, just under half of all Wisconsin students were considered proficient in math and just over one-third proficient in reading.  The report also reinforced an earlier trend – while some voucher schools showed improvement, they still trailed public schools in general.
