The final version of a state transportation plan would give the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee the authority to add millions of dollars in fees.  All leaders in Wisconsin state government are trying to come up with new ways to pay for road construction and maintenance.  The Republican plan passed by the committee last week could lead to a mileage-based or tolling system to raise that needed revenue.  Members of both parties have said it gives the Joint Finance Committee too much power and there’s no indication Governor Tony Evers will sign it.
