Milwaukee man claims $1 million Powerball prize
MILWAUKEE (AP) – Wisconsin lottery officials say a Milwaukee man
claimed the $1 million prize he won in last week’s Powerball
drawing.
The lottery said in a statement Monday that Dennis Walczyk has
come forward.
Walczyk bought a $1 quick-pick ticket in West Allis for the
Sept. 7 drawing. He matched all five regular winning numbers but
not the Powerball, making the ticket a $200,000 winner. But since
he also bought the $1 Power Play multiplier option, the jackpot was
multiplied by five.
After taxes, Walczyk’s million-dollar ticket will be worth
$672,500. The store where he bought the ticket gets a $20,000
commission.
Walczyk works at a New Berlin company that
refurbishes and rebuilds machines used to recycle plastics.
