MILWAUKEE (AP) – Family and friends said a final goodbye to a Milwaukee Marine who died in Afghanistan.  Lance Cpl. Jeremiah Collins Junior died on October 5th. The U.S. Department of Defense classified his death as “non-hostile.” His funeral was Saturday.
Fellow Marine Brian Harris went through training with Collins, who became an intelligence specialist with the Marine Corps.  Harris says Collins was a funny guy and a class clown and always lightened up the classroom.  He leaves behind his parents and six siblings.
He was a graduate of Hamilton High School in Milwaukee. He was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  Collins joined the Marine Corps in June 2012 and was promoted to his current rank in May 2013.
