Humane Society drug case
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) – A plea deal has ended the drug case against the executive director of the Sheboygan County Humane Society. Eilene Ribbens pleaded no contest Monday to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful possession of prescription drugs and was ordered to pay a $200 fine. A felony charge against Ribbens was resolved with a deferred prosecution agreement. According to Sheboygan Press Media, that means if Ribbens follows conditions of the agreement, the felony charge will be dismissed after two years. Ribbens was accused of using the veterinary license of a shelter employee last July to fraudulently purchase prescription drugs for pets of relatives who couldn’t afford them. Ribbens said in court Monday through her attorney that she’d done similar purchasing before and didn’t realize she shouldn’t have done it on that occasion.
