MILWAUKEE (AP) – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele is proposing ending health insurance coverage for county employees and having them buy insurance through the new health insurance exchange.  The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Monday ( ) that the proposal is included in Abele’s 2014 budget, which must be approved by the county board.    Enrollment in insurance plans offered through the federally run health insurance exchange begins Tuesday. The exchange is an online marketplace where consumers can shop for and compare plans.  Abele’s budget proposal estimates the switch could save the county at least $10 million per year. He says that’s something worth considering.  Milwaukee County employs 4,400 people.
