Free dental exams for service dogs
MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Guide dogs and other service canines will get some special attention from University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care specialists. UW Veterinary Care is the teaching hospital at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine. Two of its dental specialists are certified by the American Veterinary Dental College after completing advanced education, training, and exams. The two specialists will provide dental exams to service dogs in June as part of the Dental College’s nationwide program to help working dogs. The specialists will examine the dogs and recommend a treatment plan if they find any abnormalities. Owners and handlers of service dogs who have been certified through a formal training program or are enrolled in a training program can register online through June 15th at AVDC DOT org.
