Fire closes Wisconsin government office building
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A state office building in Madison is closed after an overnight fire that generated large amounts of smoke and melted ceiling tiles. State officials and the Madison Fire Department decided to close the building that houses the Department of Workforce Development and the Department of Children and Families on Friday morning. Other state offices remain open. Fire officials say crews were called to the building at about 2 a.m. Friday. There were large amounts of smoke and firefighters discovered melting ceiling tiles on the building’s fourth floor. The fire was out by 6 a.m. The cause is still being investigated
