DNR urges anglers to clean gear, stop invasives
MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Wisconsin wildlife officials are again urging anglers to clean their boats and gear to slow the spread of aquatic invasive species as the inland fishing season opener nears. State law requires anglers to remove any attached plants and animals form their boats, trailers and equipment and drain all water before leaving the landing. The inland water fishing season opens May 3. The Department of Natural Resources says anglers need to remember to inspect their boats and gear for plants and animals and drain bilges, live wells and buckets. The agency says they also shouldn’t move live fish away from a water body.
