MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A 70-year-old Wisconsin woman has been
cited for letting her dog walk free down the street while she
followed it in her car.
The woman told Madison police she walks the dog that way because
she’s disabled.
Police spokesman Joel DeSpain says the officer was sympathetic
but told the woman she couldn’t exercise her dog that way. He
suggested fencing off a yard or exercise area.
The officer issued a $114 citation for permitting a dog to run
at large.
Police were clued in to the woman’s routine after neighbors
complained. An officer spotted her on Monday, slowly trailing a
little white dog.
The Capital Times says when the woman stopped to talk to the
officer, the dog jumped onto her lap as she opened the car door.
