ADELL, Wis. (AP) – Residents of a small village in eastern
Wisconsin are being evacuated because of a fire at a co-op plant.
Firefighters from 11 agencies are battling a fire at the Adell
Co-Op in Sheboygan County. Sheriff’s Capt. Dave Adams says a series
of explosions were heard about 3 a.m. Wednesday. He says the plant
wasn’t staffed when the fire broke out.
Adell Fire Chief Will Schneiderwent says the evacuation of the
village, which has about 500 residents, was ordered because of
chemicals that are in the plant.
He tells WISN-TV that one firefighter suffered an ankle injury
and was taken to a local hospital.
Evacuated residents are being directed to the high school in
nearby Random Lake.
