MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) – The city of Manitowoc has received a $1 million grant from the federal government to clean up properties with environmental contamination. City Planner David Less says the grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is a “great opportunity for the city.” Manitowoc is one of only 13 communities nationwide to receive one of the brownfield grants. Less tells Herald Times Reporter Media (http://htrne.ws/1ab7z9e) several properties have been identified for cleanup, including a former junkyard, a vacant mall and property the city is taking over from a manufacturer who made coatings for metal.
